Ian Anderson Martin Parlor

Need ideas on a guitar similar to that guitar for up to about $1100usd

I tried an Eastman E20P but it had a lot of issues, truss rod nut at an angle, unseated fret due to slot not cut deep enough, lots of wolftones

Going to try a Recording King RP1 626 C

No one carries guitars of this build to go play in the Dallas area

Ideas?

Used Larrivee parlour (satin finished P1) sell for less than $1K. I love mine.

Seagull SWS folk model can be had for under $700 and they are fantastic for the money.

Blue Ridge makes some really nice traditional style parlours for under $1k as well. These would probably be closer to what you are looking for.

Check this page from the Saga/Blueridge site. There are 4 parlours shown on this page. I've played a few and they were really great. They reminded me of the Washburn I used to own as well as many of the Bay State parlours I've encountered.

http://www.sagamusic.com/catalog/pro...ID=2&BrandID=5

Traditional features include 12 fret neck, pyramid bridge, slotted head, V-neck, etc. These necks have wide fingerboards for finger-style playing.

I just noticed the link takes you to page 1 of their acoustic listing. Click on page 5 and scroll down for the parlours.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated.

The Blueridge BR361 seems to be close to the specs of that old Martin.

There are two, maybe three, places in Dallas that have really nice acoustics. We were talking this on http://musicdfw.com/ a few months ago - check out http://musicdfw.com/showthread.php?3...no-65Amps-more

And Guitar Sanctuary. Sometimes Charleys has realllllly nice ones as well.

Just bought a Martin 0-16NY that has been sitting in someones closet for 40 years. He bought it new for a collage course and then put it away.

Should be in my hands in a few days. Hope it is as good as it appears.

There is also silver creek, which along with blueridge and recording king are all of the same factory i believe. All chinese in any case. But as the resident recording king pusher here, i should tell you there are a legion of people who have been into all of these for some time now and among them it is generally acknowledged that the recording kings are a step above blueridge and silver creek. Many of them even look the same, but the difference is in the construction. The people who spec'd the RK's spec'd them like the golden age martins and it shows in the tone. Check any of them out that you can, and if you can't google them all till you begin to develop a general consensus. You will find RK comes out on top tonally.

You are preaching to the choir, I own an ros-06 which is very good and sounds like guitars costing ten or twenty times as much

I am going to play a recording king rp1-626-c when the dealer gets it in this week. Hoping to bring the martin along to compare. They are different specs so I dont expect them to sound the same but it will be interesting for sure.

I had an eastman e20p parlor at the recommendation of this dealer but it had issues so it went back. This dealer has had problems with higher end rk's but likes the lower priced stuff from them. He told rk the eastman experience and they are sending the rk parlor to check out.

It would be nice if some music stores around here had a selection of these type guitars. I would really like to play a Larrivee, Blueridge, Collongs etc parlor or 0 size but no one stocks these type of guitars. Seems dreadnaughts are 75% of the stock and a few 000 OMs and misc are the remainder in most places.
