Thumbs up NPD: Red Witch Fuzz God II

I scored one of these secondhand about five minutes from where I live. I've been through a few fuzzes, and right now I think I should have started (and stopped) here! The FGII is voiced just right for me: not too bassy (i.e. muffy) and not too thin.

Right now it is the only fuzz pedal on my board, having knocked off these three, which I still rate highly:
- MI Audio GI Fuzz: muff like but very flexible
- Zvex Fuzz Factory: crazy but with some great tones too; just a little lacking in bottom end for me
- EQD Hoof: almost not a fuzz, but beautiful sustain. Very refined.

I also had a EHX Little Big Muff Pi a while back, and that didn't really do it for me.

The only downside I can see with the FGII is that I can't yet coax crazy octave up sounds out of it like the FF - at least not without going mental with the "Wrath" switch. I don't think my wife will like the Wrath function very much...

Finally, as an Aussie, it is the true mark of a good pedal when a Kiwi made unit displaces the MI Audio pedal!

Something tells me I shouldn't sell my surplus fuzz pedals. It's a different kind of dirt to OD and distortion; the pedals are living, breathing musical instruments.

C'mon people, any comments on this unit? I've had the pedal for 6 days now and I'm loving it more than ever. (My wife is not so keen on this one...)

I tried one out a couple years ago. It was a really great sounding fuzz, and it could make some really crazy sounds. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the market for fuzz pedals at that time. Also tried the Moon Phaser and it was fricking sweet as well. Red Witch make great pedals.

Bumping an old post here I know, but I too have been on a similar fuzz journey. I currently own the FGII as well. I used to have the MI Audio GI Fuzz too, but this thing sounds much 'fuller' to me. I found the GI wouldn't cut through in a live situation so it had to go unfortunately. I was disappointed because I'm Aussie too, not only that but I live in the next suburb from where MI Audios are made. Still not entirely happy with the Red Witch though - the 'wrath' is just really gimmicky, I can't see myself actually using it, but the best thing about the pedal is it's versatility. It can do the 'satisfaction' sound right through to almost muff sounding.

Well, some time has passed for me, and I've had to buy a new GI Fuzz (V2) to replace the old one (V1) that I sold a while back. Right now I'm really enjoying the GI Fuzz, with the FGII in the pedal cupboard for now. The FGII has some interesting tones but I find the GI Fuzz more flexible, with some great lower gain options below 11 o'clock and crazy stuff after 3 o'clock. That said, I'm not calling my fuzz journey at an end just yet. I always keep an eye/ear out.
