You should try the Sansamp Tri-AC:

I've used it into a clean Fender, and a clean Hiwatt, and it sounds very Marshallesque on the higher gain settings:

Lower gain are thin and trebly because of the treble boost circuit. Its got a bypass function, so you can use your amp sound for clean.

The other sounds (mesa-ish Twin-ish) don't float my boat though.

I also have a V-Stack Classic which really doen't do the job very well.

Keeley modified Rat. I have a SR as well and when I want a Marshall, this does it. The Ibanez SD-9 does pretty well too, little bit different flavor, but still very marshally.

BJF Dyna Red for the Fender amps - its the only one that has the half stack 'bounce', the Mosfet pedals have the sound but not t he feel of a Marshall

I had the Menatone KOTB 6 knob, and I thought that really captured the Marshall thing through the DeVille 2x12 and silverface Twin I played through. Little too trebly for me, and with this mid thing that I couldn't EQ out with the pedal's controls... a little too authentic!

I have a true-bypass ReezaFRATzitz that I have played through the above mentioned amps and a '67 Bassman (head/2x12), and it's more open sounding than the KOTB with a lot more low-end. Warm but edgy. Not authentic Marshall, but a Marshallish sound that works better for me when I want to go into that territory.

I used to use a RAt, but for the last year or so it's been a Menatone Blue Colar.

don't rule out the Kaden Brown Creeper. It's a pretty darn cool pedal. Very EVH if that's what you're after. I haven't heard the Dynared, but folks sure seem to like it too. I'd like to hear it sometime, but it's a pretty spendy pedal. THe Brown Creeper is half the price.
I did a pretty long BC review on the HC Review boards.

I've got a hot-british. Excellent sound, sounds better than my amp distortion (marshall AVT275)! and not just a little better, oh no, WAY better

Keeley Boss DS 1 Ultra, works for me, or you can try Menatone King Of Britains 6 knob version.

If you're looking for Plexi - JCM800 tones, the Carl Martin PlexiTone is the best I've heard. I used to run one with a Peavey Classic 50 head. Very convincing Marshall tone.

Best,
V

Don't forget the Brown sound in a box (BSIAB II) from runoff groove. It was designed specifically for Fenders. Also the Lovepedal COT50 gets alot of props. So far here's what we have

BSIAB II
Rat (I use one with my fenders and it does have a marshally tone)
Vstack
C.M. Plexitone
Radial Hot British
Sansamp (I've got one of their amps and the marshall tone is pretty good)
Blackstone
Menatone King of the Britons
Barber Direct Drive
Modded DS-1 (I have one of these and prefer the stock Rat)
Lovepedal COT50

Well mcormier... you asked
Have fun searching for the holy Marshall grail
