NGD New Gadow Day

Brand new Custom Hollow from Ryan Gadow www.gadowguitars.com Actually had it for a couple of weeks, just to busy to post!! I've had it long enough to gig with it twice and I am loving it.

I play in an 80's tribute band so I'm covering anything from Van Halen, Prince, ZZ Top, Journey to Maddona (we have a female vocalist!). This guitar is covering all of the ground that I need it to with ease. I'm playing it through a Mesa Boogie Lone Star through a Dr. Z 2x12 cab.

The thing that strikes me most about the guitar is how well balanced it sounds. I have Gadow's "Modern" set of humbuckers. The output has a nice round, full sound that overdrives the amp just right. Not a heavy, muddy distortion by any means but enough bite to cover any of the bands listed above. The neck pup is not boomy or muddy at all. The split coil feature is nice and convincing also. I'm not sure what he does, but he gets a better quack out of his humbuckers than anyone else I've tried.

Did I mention it's beautiful? The finish (kudos to our man Stike!) is Blood Orange Burst. It's a tough color to photograph, especially for a hack like myself. The maple top is nice and flamey and the mahogany back is awesome.

This is a semi-hollow instrument so she weighs in at around 7 lbs and some change. Pretty darn light! No issues with feedback and I'm playing on the 100 watt setting of my amp and we play loud!
Anyway, can't say enough good things about the guitar or Ryan (always available to answer questions, I might add). You owe it to yourself to try one of his designs out asap!

Beautiful! My custom hollow is the best playing guitar I've had the pleasure of playing. Nice choice.

Oh, just a word of advice..... Be careful! Else you'll end up like me with 3 more Gadows

Great looking Gadow!
I agree with you on the high level of versatility these guitars are capable of. I have a set of the modern humbuckers in my classic hollow and could not be more happy with them.
If you have not already seen it, Ryan has a great tour of his shop video at www.tuneyoursound.com
