Talking KS 336...thanks Jack!

Yes, Jack Bauer himself worked with the Gibby CS to create perhaps IMO the koolest semi-hollow ever. The 336 body is made from a single piece of mahogany that is chambered, so sides and back are like a Les Paul body, only it's chambered with the middle intact. Put on a maple cap and it's like a semi-hollow LP...with Mickey Mouse ears. I traded away my black CS336 during my LP binge, I had regrets since, so after selling a lot of my stuff, I had enough to look for another, only I wanted the KS 336, yeah, the Kiefer model that everyone blasted since he wasn't a 'known' player....meh, he has a ton of Gibsons and knew what he liked...the aged gold finish, ebony neck, Super markers, ABS wire bridge and a nice comfy neck and frets. I posted wanted ads, it is a HTF guitar, not sure how many were made, I have #44..I'm sure Jack has 24, hehe ....luckily I had a response here on TGP...thanks ZosoJJC! I saw a new one here many years ago, the retail was around 6K, I got it at a fair price, the most I ever spent on a guitar..but as someone said here..life is too short to play crappy guitars..I agree. I liked the black trim on the guitar, but I'm a creme fanboy so i swapped and ditched the guard and black knobs....after this weeks gig, I have a set of BK Jimmy page pups waiting to drop in, but I wanna hear the 57's before I do....the greenish-gold color is hard to capture, it does look much better than my '01 goldtop...I love the look and feel of this one...

Congrats!

Perhaps the most underrated guitar the Gibson custom shop has released! Enjoy it, it's truly an amzing piece.

And IMHO, it looks WAY better with the cream rings and gold knobs...I miss it already!

haha, thanks guys...the neck is exactly like my old CS 336, it feels wide, more of a soft D than C, but plays great. I love the tone through my gain channel, it has that unique 'buzz' I think comes from being semi-hollow. I may have to rethink the pup swap, the stock 57s sound pretty good, I'll decide after my gig. Ya know Jura...looking at the pics, the black rings does look a bit better, kinda Bonnamasa LP...I may put 'em back. I love the tones...also being 2 pounds lighter than the LP makes it very nice.

For what it's worth, that guitar is the only Gibson I've ever owned that I kept the stock pickups in, out of ten or so (save for PAFs!). They sound great.

I've got a 2001 CS336, the LeeRoy Parnell model which is black, has a wider neck and aged nickel parts.

Black plastic is the best thing that ever happened to gold tops, LPs included..

hehe, put the black rings back on tonite...it does look good, something about the aged gold color...I love the creme on my gold top LP though...played a couple hours tonite, the Custom Shop really did a fine job on this guy, plays so easy and sounds great.

Another 336 fan checking in. Mine's in natural with Fralin P-92's, Hoveland tonecaps, ebony knobs and 50's wiring. It's a "Keeper", for certain!!!
