The Waiting Game - Agile 3100 coming for my birthday!

Man, oh man! My generous and lovely fiance is getting me the new front and back bound black Agile 3100. This bad boy:

I've long wanted a dual HB guitar, and I love the look of a good black custom LP. Rondo just introduced this new version with binding on the back of the body, and I knew this had to be the one. But they're not shipping til mid-september... and I dunno if my lady will let me have it til my actual birthday (oct 3). Even with the waiting pains in full effect I definitely can't complain! Anything I should know about these bad boys that I might not know yet? I'm not planning any immediate mods or anything, though I'll probably pay attention to see if I like the graphite saddles. Might get it set up for some heavier gauge strings, we shall see. And now... the waiting!

Happy birthday, I have a buddy with an Agile 3100, birdseye maple top, great guitar. Only thing that's questionable, IMO, is their pups.

I picked up an agile for the first time yesterday, couldn't play it (holding my son in my other arm) but it felt like a quality instrument. best of luck with it!

Thanks guys. I'd been looking at the lower end Gibsons but wasn't super inspired by my choices. To discover these things at a great price and killer feature set... and then to see the new version with back binding, pretty dang exciting.

Re: the pups, yeah I'm open to changing them down the road but I wanna get a feel for them before I make any decisions. I'm mostly a bass player and my main guitar now has P90's, so I'm not sure exactly what I'll want out of HB's yet. I could see myself getting something with a bit more output to play some Sabbathy metal, though it might not be necessary. I think more important for me will be to get a non-practice amp! Considering the Dual Terror and having a good 2x12 built by Stagecraft or Stone Age possibly. So many great options out there, we live in a wonderful age!

an AL-3100 will probably be my next purchase from Rondo. I have an AL-2000 and it is fantastic. these Agiles are crazy good deals.

I have an AL3100 and an AS820. Great guitars. My 3100 has AnicoV Pups in it and I like them. My AS820 has Alnico II's in it and that works really nicely for semi hollow body stuff.
I'm really not sure which one I like more.
I'm not ready to swap Pups just yet.

In my opinion, it's hard to find a better guitar for the money. My 3100 goldtop has killed 3 gibson's I've owned: SG standard, 60's Tribute Gold Top, and a LP Jr. No need to replace the neck p90, it's great. I put a dimarzio humbucker sized p90 in the bridge and wow. Mine weighs in a little more than 10 lbs but it is so resonant that I feel every note in my gut when I play. Their LP cases are awesome too for $50! I have not tried their humbuckers, but if they are anything like their p90's they would probably not need a switch. I really want to try one of their custom/ semi custom guitars.

A 10lb+ weight makes me guess that they don't chamber or weight reduce with swiss cheese type body holes?

I'm a little concerned that a guitar that heavy would be a "burden" over whole night of playing?

Do they make a similar model that tips the scale a little lighter?

My AL3100 weighs in the neighborhood of 10lbs too. But when I play out, I take a couple guitars. I don't usually play the same guitar for more than maybe 3 or 4 songs. I usually take my AL3100, my LPjr copy and an ES335 copy. I'm getting a MIM Tele in about a week so I can add that to the mix, but it's not really a burden to me.

Congrats, I have a 3100 gold top 1xP90 that is the HEAT. Agile is eating a bunch of other makers' lunch, as far as I can tell.

I have a 3100 and it's a crazy nice guitar for the money. Mine is actually a little less than 9 lbs ... not too heavy at all. The fit and finish are flawless and the neck and fretwork perfect. I was also surprised at how nice the factory pups were, although they were just a little to "polite' for my tastes. I dropped a set of Wolfe's Dr. V's in and this guitar gives me everything I want in an LP style axe.

Congrats and let us know how you like it.

It's worth the weight. I only find it starts to get heavy around the back half of the third set, but that's what I bring my strat for.

They do have chambered models that come in around 8lbs.
