POD HD bean vs..rest of the Beans

I've been playing out again for the last year or so, after a 5 year break. Live, I've been using a VHT pittbull combo, with various pedals. But at home, I just want to have a nice practice amp. I've been displaced by a flood, so I'm not at home right now. The band i've been playing in is going to break up soon as well..

So I'll be bandless again, and a tube amp is way too loud to play at home, even if I'm at home (not staying at someone elses home)

I'd like a good rig to practice through headphones. I really wish i could snag one of the axe fx 2 rigs, but they are a long ways out of my price range right now.

So...long story short..what do you guys/gals think of the pod HD beans?

I have a pod x3 right now, but i've never been able to get excited about it. i'm wondering if anyone out there has gone through the pod beans, 2.0, xt and x3, then got an HD and really liked it in comparison.

thanks much, and have a great weekend everyone!

I love my bean and I use for exactly what you described. I use it through headphones and I have it hooked up to my PC for the HD editor software. The only thing I miss is an expression pedal for volume or a wah but you can get a pedal pretty cheap. I am really enjoying the POD HD. I think it sounds really good.

I had the original POD, the Flextone, the Vetta, the XT Pro, the X3 Live and now the HD500. By far the best POD they've ever made, miles of distance from the others, IMHO

I wonder if the HD is going to sound more inspiring from the headphone out to you, as I've seem owners comment the headphone out sound is kinda weak.

I've had every POD in some form. original bean, upgraded to a 2.0 bean, briefly an XT Pro and then briefly an X3 Live, before getting the HD 500. The HD is a whole different product. It's that good.

I don't think the headphone output is bad, either.

Just obtained a new HD Bean and loving it. Had one of the red ones a few yearsback and didnt care for it.

I agree with this:

Only had one session with it at home and dialed in some really nice amp tone. Gonna be working with it to determine if it could become my live rig. I'm really optimistic at this point after just one sitting with it. I need really only about 4 different tone for my live application.

Peace,

James

The 2.0 is still a wonderful practice tool. It's a wonderful tool for beginners. POD allows newcomers to try various amps and styles without investing a fortune.

It is NOW what it was, miles ahead of it's time and if you put the time in, you'll get something special out.
