Classic Vibe Tele feedback

I am looking at the Classic Vibe Tele Deluxe or the Thinline. What the word on these axes? Not a huge tele player but looking to fill out selection of the "classic tones"

Whats your experience with them?

great guitars

I don't think I've ever read a bad review. They make great platforms for bender guitars too.

contrary to the above review, this is my somewhat bad review.

I had a classic vibe custom (3 tone burst)

the fit and finish was beautiful. nicer than my MIM Esquire in some areas, but not all.

I found the neck a bit too thin for me the more I played it. tuners held tune great. tusq nut was a nice touch.

tone wise, the neck is decent. the bridge, IMHO, was tinny and thin.

it definitely sounds like a telecaster, there's no doubt about it. however, my A string had a very irritating rattly clinking glasses sound mid neck and it had to go. a fret level and multiple set ups didn't fix it either.

conclusion: my experience with them was not great. I ultimately got rid of it and bought a MIM Esquire. the neck is much nicer and it plays nicer. I would not buy another squier due to my experience with it. maybe i got a lemon, I don't know. but the buzz/rattle was enough to steer me clear of squier products.

Very good guitars. I have CV50s I bought on Amazon. My only complaint is that the neck feels a bit flimsy. The stock pickups are terrific and the setup was great out of the box. No issues with electronics. A lot of people post that CV50s are heavy, but mine is fairly light.

There are lots of glowing reviews on TGP and elsewhere. I tried a couple in the store and they felt dead to me. They looked real nice, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are good ones out there. Best to run the racks and find the one for you.

They are about as good a guitar as you can buy for the money. That said, I don't find them nearly as jaw-droppingly wonderful as some people seem to. They still need hardware and electronics upgrades to function as well as the other guitars I own and by the time you invest that time and money you have enough for a used Am Standard or a CIJ/Ishibashi type guitar.
They do look the part, though-definitely a good cheap way to dip your foot in the Telecaster pool.

Only complaint I had about mine was the neck. Razor thin. Not sure if that's typical or an anomaly.

I agree with you 100%. they're nice, but i think they get more praise than they should, but as mentioned, a good way to test drive a tele to see if you really want one.

Awesome guitars, worthy of all the praises they receive and then some.

rave reviews outnumber the non-rave by about 30 to 1

Get into a quite room @ GC and try them all out side by side. That's what I did. I don't want a cheap guitar that sounds bad, but I'll buy a cheap guitar that sounds and feels good. The CV Tele sounded and felt better than some of there MIM and MIAs and some were as good. None were "better".
I felt I made a good buy. I also bought a Costum deluxe Two squire tele.
The pups are good in both guitars but I will replace the pots. Oh and I had to put a Tru oil/poly finish on Deluxe 2 neck.

Yeah, I didn't find the necks all that thin compared to, for example, an American Series (haven't tried the latest American Standards).
