Prediction: Rev will do a limited run Drivetrain 2 reissue within the next year.

I routinely check up on the prices for used Revs, well, just because (!). In my view, there's a serious market out there now for DT2s and those of us who rely on ours routinely understand exactly why.

Speaking of DriveTrains... and this is why I logged on this morning. John 1056, you had offered to mod my Drivetrain II to update it. Would you still be willing to do it? If not, no problem, I'll see if Reverend will do it.

If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, Glenn, I'm sure it would be child's play for Pete Cage to do for you "while you wait."

If it's that easy maybe I should double check the mod instructions

Adding a Bass Contour

Over on the RDP John1056 was talking about adding a bass contour to one of his Reverends. I am interested in trying this mod, but I am wondering how to do it since the BC goes where the old jack goes.
I don't want to drill a side jack hole, so I thought a stacked pot would do the trick. I am wondering if anyone here has any other clever ways of doing it. I don't want to violate Joe's wishes by discussing how to wire it. I can look at my Jetstream for that.
Wadda y'all say.

A stacked (concentric) pot is definitely the way to go.

This is an old technology, we've been through this before, my personal view is there should be nothing proprietary about such a circuit. You can look at your other Rev to see how it's done or you can access any of the many circuit diagrams in the public domain for guidance, e.g., go to the G&L website, click on FAQ - Schematics - Legacy Special Schematic Block Diagram.

If the 1 meg value for the bass rolloff pot and/or the .22 pf cap that G&L uses don't float your boat, simply experiment with other values like a 500K pot with a .47 pf cap. Pots and caps are cheap.

P.S. Here's a trick you may want to try (I recommend it): scrape off the end of the pot's connection by the wiper so that when the pot's all the way up, it's actually removed from the circuit. You'll get a better tone that way when you choose not to have the bass rolled down at all.

Yeah, that seems like the best solution to me.

I have a possibility of snagging a slightly used Retro Pro SSC. If that falls through, I will pull out my soldering iron. With the pickguards on sale at Reverend's in stock page, you can do wacky experiments without screwing up your stock PG. That makes the whole modding idea more palatable to me.

I agree, but since Joe has requested his circuit not be published, I want to comply. It is his livliehood and we are musically enriched by what he has done. Not being proprietary, I imagine he is more comfortable not having the details bandied about too much on the web.

I just today purchased my first Reverend guitar. It is a USA Slingshot Custom. I would swear this guitar was never played as it has,t a mark on it. I saw it, played it and had to have it, so now I own it. Totally different than anything else I own. Can't wait to plug it into the Maz 18.

They're really amazing instruments. You'll wonder how wood can ever resonate like the US Reverend bodies. Welcome aboard!

Hi y'all,

Another Reverend rookie here.

I'm the lucky new owner of what I consider a 'quintessential' Reverend : phenolic-top Slingshot, sky-blue w/ silver guard, Eastpointe neck.

All the more lucky as Reverends are pretty rare over here (Europe).

I've been playing on and off since the mid-60's. My styles: rootsy rock/folk/blues (think Ry Cooder). This is a whole new experience after years of playing Strats and Teles.

My question: I'd like to replace the stock metal saddles by Graph-Tech Stringsaver or Tusk saddles. Has anybody in this fine congregation done the same? Are there any noticeable differences in tone, feel,...?

Thank y'all for your help.
