I don't like 6100s, it makes it feel like the neck is scalloped. Most of us are fine with the old standard 6130 (and the more modern 6150, called by some a jumbo but to me they're closer to medium jumbo) medium jumbos and so are quite happy with the stock Rev frets that are considerably beefier than Fender vintage-style frets (6230).
Man, I thought I was a gear geek.:RoCkInNot picking on you Jon, I am in awe. It always amazes me that there are whole veins of data on guitars I do not have. John1056 is like that with wiring. I was aware in a general sense of the fret numbers, but I could never rattle off their relative qualities like that.

I would agree that the frets are on the "smaller" side, and the necks might be a little thin, but as Jon said, that's not a whole lot different than many production guitars (and some custom guitars). It's all a matter of personal preference. The 6100's are like speed bumps. I find the 6105 - 6150 range to be pretty comfortable.

Jon,

I would guess the reverend frets look closest to the 6130's which to me is the worst fret there is . They could actually be 6150's but comparred to the 6105's or 6100's they feel like the 6130's. For guys like myself that do lots of vibrato stuff those frets just don't cut it. I would probably prefer the eastpoint neck as well being its a little fatter. I had to buy one just cause I love that fact that its such a unique guitar look wise and construction wise. Unfortunately I don't care for the frets/neck and I bought the top of the line model so I have a bit invested. If I were gigging and want'ed to use It I would definately re-fret it. Being I am just a hobbiest and have a few other guitars that I mostly use its just a piece of eye candy at the moment with an occasional fiddle when I don't feel like changing strings.

Well, it's certainly true that no guitar is perfect for everyone.

By way of disclosure, all of my necks are Eastpoints - I won't buy any other Revs as I like/need the slight extra beefiness (though of my 3 current Eastpoint Revs, the necks are all slightly different).

One of my Revs, Avenger #291, has exceptionally big frets for a Rev. I'm guessing the original owner of that one, San Fran blues star Kenny Blue Ray, had that one refretted.

In my brief experience with the Revs, the Eastpointes are the way to go if you can get them.

"FYI, guys. I'm going for the Lava Swirl SSC on Ebay."

Wasn't that you bidding on the customized Avenger? If so, are you off that one now? I was thinking the neck specs sound nice, but kind of noncommital about bidding esp with someone else actively bidding on it...

Just curious, what were the specifics that made you feel this way? The bigger neck?

My cover is blown. I threw in a lowball bid to get rid of the BIN. I would have taken it for cheap, but that SSC... (foutunately you can't see me drooping).

Speaking of Lava...

Does anyone know whether that trem is a Hipshot, or the older ones? I have heard bad things about the early Reverend Trems.

Bob, your altrusim is a thing of beauty. I must say, I find the idea of a soft V neck on an Avenger an interesting idea but I'm covered for Revs now that I've added a Rocco to my SSC. BTW, I picked up an old Rocco tortoiseshell pg from Reverend and am going to drop some hb sized P90s in there. I plan to use it on my Blackcat so that it gets more playing time. I love the neck on the Blackcat but not the high-output pickups.

Stay tuned for my thoughts on the Goblin Deluxe. I need to spend more time with that amp before I'm really sure what I think of it.

Yes. That's my one-and-only but highly significant factor for insisting on only Eastpoint Revs for myself.

Yes, I much prefer the larger back profile. Not only do I find it more comfortable, I feel that it also enhance the tone and sustain. I have a Warmoth fatback on a Strat which I have no problems handling.

Yes I am a regular Albert Schweitzer (hope I spelled that right) or is it Grossman. It looked cool, but Avengers, other than TL's aren't really what I am looking for. My history with Strat setups has been less than satisfying, except when I was in a classic rock cover band.
Now the SSC, I could sell two I have if that landed in my hands.

FWIW, I have never had a problem with bends or vibrato on my SSC.
