He's got it I think. Someday it will either be worth a fortune or just a guitar nobody wants. It's the wrinkled pumpkin guitar.

Paul, I zeroed in on the same Rocco, even before I saw that you'd pointed it out in specific. That is just tres cool.

I wonder where it came from/how it came about?

No, it is the original Prototype. Solid alder, one of a kind. :BEER
I believe they made 12 of each color in the first production run. There were three colors, so a total of 36. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure Joe said that at some point.

That's also quite stylin'. I'm guessing that's a prototype -- I know there were honey Chargers, but that isn't quite the same body shape or pickguard.

Its interesting. An old style pickguard, and it looks like an Eastpointe Neck... could Joe have been thinking about a woodie back then?

That's a body I built in my Kalamazoo basement in the late 80's. It's a semi-hollow with mahogany sides/center block and spruce top and back. In terms of design and structure, it's a predecessor to both the USA and Stage King guitars.

Around '91, a friend bought just the body, and then brought it back 13 years later to have it put together! Hence the Reverend neck and pickguard.

I think that guitar (the proto-prototype?) has real charm. In some ways, I prefer it to the charger, etc.

The only thing I dont' like about the proto-prototype is that there's no "dip" in the body by the top of the fretboard. I know LPs don't have them either, but I still prefer a Tele-like upper bout to an LP-like one.

But if I could get one, I wouldn't quibble.
