Hey bro....originally read your post on the RDP. I enjoyed it both times, great review. And great wife!

I am currently continuing to be overwhelmed myself with a "new to me" bolt on Warhawk 290 I got yesterday. (I've been kicking myself ever since for not getting me a green one before they were discontinued) Original owner had it less than 2 months, shipped it to me in the original Reverend box with all case candy, etc.

I can't believe the tones I'm getting from this axe, even though it's just been through my practice amp so far. A great compliment to my Flatroc for sure. I hope this quenches my Reverend thirst for a while......we'll see!

Pictures!!! I would love to see one in the "flesh" - or at least not the canned photo from the Reverend site!

Sounds good. I'm in as long as I'm in town.

Hi there. Considering an SG type axe. I find this interesting:

Just read the recent issue of Guitar Player. If you look closely at the ratings, the Volcano got the highest rating (all 5s and two 4.5s) for the Guitars under $500.

So, has anyone played one of these suckers ???????

You guys with the new import Revs - one thing I'm potentially concerned about is the placement of the volume knob given the 3-knob configuration. It's higher up towards the guitar and neck than I'm usually comfortable with in my guitars. How is it for you ergodynamically? Do you find yourself hitting it at all?

You might want to check out Glenn's review and subsequent comments starting on page 241 of this thread.

No, and I have been known to strum in a less than graceful fashion.

Jon, I hadn't thought of this before. I just sat down with my Daredevil and strummed a few. It doesn't bother me, but I could see where it might get in somebody's way. If you were to strum over the bridge pickup, it could be a problem. Strumming between pickups however is no trouble. It suppose it would be nice to have the knobs be a bit further away and closer to the cable jack.

I guess I'm going to have to try one of the new import Revs again to be certain. The reason I ask is I originally laid out my Jerrycaster with three knobs ala the Reverend imports as follows:

Now this axe cost me, total, in the area of $3K once all the custom elements are tallied up. I had to admit upon first playing it, though, that I'd gotten the knob placement wrong. I'm not the kind of player who strums between the PUPs, rather, I tend to rest my plan on the bridge to facilitate pick-'n'-fingers chicken pickin' and the like. So I had to switch after the fact to two knobs, placed in between the original 3, with ebony dowels to fill the old holes. Turned out fine, both ergodymically and cosmetically (the pic below is before I refinished the dowel tops with clear acrylic to match the general look of the rest of the top) but the whole experience has me duly chastised for future guitar buying of any 3 knob instrument!

Jon, I have no issues at all with that. I play pretty hard too.

I've got a PRS McCarty whose volume knob is (distance-wise) a little further from the pickups than the Reverend. But I have more of an issue bumping the knob on the PRS. must be the angle.

With a 14 day trial period, you have nothing to lose but shipping.

It has the upgraded Graphtech saddles and desperately needs a setup but it's a killer guitar.

martyn: i'm torn between wanting to know more or burying my head in the sand, since i suspect that the coveted (joe says only 10 made) BEB hitman might actually have the ultimate pickup combination for me. i guess at the risk of self inflicted GAS, i'd like to hear more about the tones you're getting after you've had it set up. (go easy on me...)

Oh, I wouldn't put Reverend on the spot with potential use of the return option on something this easy to check, I'd fix a time first to visit with one of the MD/VA/DC Rev owners to try the guitar first!
