I agree! Nice pics.

"Ah yeah, wrong person...brain fart. Let me try that again....P. Muck how'd it work out (see my previous question to john1056)?
Greg"

Well, I really like the neck and bridge and middle positions, but the volume loss (especially in 2 & 4 ) were a little tough to get a handle on in a band situation- I could crank up the amp and get a good Strat-type sound, but then really have to work my volume and tone knobs if I switched to 1,3, or 5. I eventually found a couple of sweet spots towards the end of practice last night- some good starting spots anyway. Tonight I'm going to mess with the PU height and see if I can't get some volume consistency between the 5 positions. I'm wondering if PRSi with this setup have the same issues or if they have some way to overcome it.

P. Muck,
Were those 2 & 4 positions good and tonally different enough despite the volume drop? I'm wondering if they'd be good for clean to Stones-like rythym making the switch to the full 'buckers good for a lead boost.

On my PRS, the volume drop is very substantial in positions 2 and 4. That is not a defect, it's how the PUPs tapped in parallel are supposed to sound. If you don't like it, seems to me PRS-style 5-way switching is not for you. On another guitar, I have a pair of Fralin Unbuckers that exhibit a significantly smaller volume drop in those same positions but of course, those are boutique PUPs with deliberately mismatched coils designed specifically to address this issue.

Glenn K, quick question on your Baltimore gig this Sat. evening - can you give us an idea of the time slot your most likely to be on stage for given the multiple band setup for the evening? Thanks. Jon S.

Head up - I'm selling my JS390 in the emporium. Check it out.

It is a fine guitar, but I'm not playing it enough to justify keeping it, and I really want a new MacBook.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I can't say that I don't like it (yet) but it's different, so I have to learn to work it. One thing I did last night was turn the level down on my OD pedal so that when I switched from a nice clean position 2 to my neck pickup, I also hit the stomp box to counteract the volume jump- that worked well.

Too bad 2 and 4 can't be in series rather than parallel. Whats happening is the impedance of your pickups is going from 13K to 3K or something like that when you switch.

I don't know yet. I'm waiting to hear back from the club for details. So far I would say it could either be 9:30 or 10:30. By the way, the IOTA show in VA went great. The funniest comment I got from someone after the show was that he thought I was going to break the whammy bar off my guitar I was going at it so hard (this was the Jetstream 390). I'm really sorry to see the Wilkenson being discontinued because there's no way I could do this with a Les Trem! :RoCkIn

I'm sorry to have missed the IOTA show but with a demanding job and family and not being a teenager m'self these days I just couldn't handle a late Monday evening out.

I never did get the single bridge PUP "Jr." model (be it a SC or HB PUP). I could live with a single PUP by the neck perhaps but not with only a harsh bridge PUP. Well ... with the single exception perhaps of an Esquire (though I'll take a Tele over an Esquire any day).

Thanks for just sayin'. Though I did get an offer I've decided for now to take your advice.

hey guys! i'm very interested in getting a new reverend within a couple of days. i can't decide between the charger 290 in tobacco burst, the flatroc in cream or rock orange, or the buckshot in sunburst! if anyone has particularly great experiences with any of those, please tell. i'm sorry, i had no idea how to start a new thread or anything. i'm assuming i'm not supposed to? either way, some of my influences are... Death Cab, Pedro the Lion, Wilco, Band of Horses, rilo kiley, the elected, grandaddy, denali, the frames, Ted Leo etc... my current setup is an epiphone valve jr., an avatar 2x12 with 1-vintage 30 and 1-g12h30. my only guitar is an ibanez axs32 with a Jeff Beck in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck.

-I'm a fan of Telecasters (buckshot) but i don't want an anemic or ice picky single coil that hums like crazy.
-The only p-90 guitar i've played was a Gibson SG and i dug it. If the Charger sounds anything like that, i'm sure i'll like it.
-My friend has a flatroc and i dig it.

I plan on picking one of these up in Santa Monica on Monday or Tuesday of this week at TrueTone Music if i can make a decision. HELP ME!

Thanks!
