Yeah, I agree about the likeliness of a bad tube or socket. I did check and it seemed to be kind of loose in the socket. Just seemed suspicous that the dehumidifier kicked on at the same time. I read about a trick to pull out the tube and make sure the gripping pins are tight enough, and if not, then bend them carefully. If the new tubes have the problem, I might do that. I'm definitely going to bend the metal tabs that hold the tubes from rattling a bit tighter. Possibly the fact that I'm using an Ampwedge to tilt the amp back a bit could be playing into this as well, although I would hope the tubes would be in there tight enough for that not to be a problem. This is an example of a head being better than a combo, where rattling etc can shake things loose.

Just a heads up. The Avenger is going, but the Slingshot(s) are staying. Thanks!

Yikes! That one should sell quickly at your price (I'd cop it myself if I didn't already have one).

+1 Great guitar for a great price. I've been digging my Avenger more than my Hotshot lately.

Now imagine it with the Bigsby...hmm, I may have to rethink all previous statements. As long as the quality control stays top notch, I think Reverend might hit a homerun. I keep thinking of some glitter/sparkle finishes...drool.

Oh.

Oh, my.

edited to add:

"Solid, chambered, and semi-hollow."

I wonder when we'll see 'em ... before or after Philly?

oh my, that is a NICE looking guitar!

BTW, I put a set of Vintage Vibe P90s in my Bugeye SSC - huge improvement. Less output, more tonal variation pickup to pickup and NO MUD!

I've now gone lower output on my SSC and old Avenger (Mini-hb in the neck, HD S90 in the bridge) and they're fast becoming my my "go-to" Revs.

That new Reverend looks pretty cool. Hey howcome I don't have the Vintage Guitar mag yet? Must be from the newsstand. I always thought the Tele plate was funny--like something Leo Fender found in his garage. But I have to admit the guitar looks good. And f-holes are nice. Looking forward to seeing one in person next weekend.

On another subject, you guys were right--bad tube.

Jon, I'm getting back my Studiomaster amp from Pete Cage tomorrow. He fixed it up. Thanks again for the recommendation.

I just got back from practice using my new (to me) Spy, and so far it may be the best electric I have ever played. Each setting is voiced differently and they all sound good. I was afraid the tone would be generally whimpy due to the lipsticks being low output, but this thing is a snarling beast! I need to fiddle around, but this might end up being my #1. Through my 'hound it was able to change from bright backup to biting leads at will. It is a very bright guitar, but that was working for me tonight.

Pete is the best, no doubt about it - you're very welcome.

Nope, my VG mag was my mailed subscription edition (January '06). Actually, I think I remember something about how they prioritize the mailings according to the subscribers' moral and musical worthiness.

The Tele plate is perfection. That's all there is to say about it except for the fact that Leo wired it in upside down so be sure to flip yours around after you buy it (like mine - learned the trick from Bill Kirchen - essential for those volume-and-tone-controls-together truckdriver swells ).

I was about to chime in with the same thing, though I leave mine the way Leo intended it.

Seriously, a lot of people switch them around like that -- try that with any other setup! You can also do various mods that would be destructive on another guitar (such as adding a "neck on" switch) without actually modifying the guitar. When I did that mod to my #1 Tele I just ordered a new control plate, drilled that, swapped all the controls and put it in. Still have the original if I ever need to go back.

I can't wait for the new Reverend forum so I won't have to toggle between here and the other place to talk about Reverends.

Joe stated at the other place that this new Stage King guitar has a 335 size body. I'm thinking that would be pretty damn cool. I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys that are going to the Philly show say about the new guitars.

I'm getting gas pains.
