How hard is it to learn how to make nice looking edited videos?

I kind of like the whole video thing. I want to learn how to make cool little short films(5 minutes max). I think I understand a pretty decent amount photography. I know absolutely nothing about filming and editing. But I need a new little hobby. I must warn my ability to learn via manuals and tons of reading is difficult, I generally learn by doing.

Is there intuitive programs that are good for someone who has no skill?

What is a good camera suggestion for this kind of thing?

It's easy to get started. Just get a digital camera HD is of course better. Shoot what you want and then load it on to your computer. There are plenty of editors available and I think Windows has one that comes with it, movie maker it's called. Though simple, that can get you started without a bunch of extra cost.

You can arrange your clips, add transitions between clips and add audio to it by drag and drop. That's that basic idea and you understand that you can get much better equipment, software and technique to make video much better than this.

I did an evening of music at a private out door party and burned it onto a cd as my first project and it ran 600 megs for about 45 minutes of video with stereo audio. Came out great and those I gave copies to said they were impressed that a hobby could look so well done. That was back in 2002 or so, and things have gotten a whole lot better and easier since then.

So jump in and have a go, if nothing else you will have some laughs and that at least is worth something to you.
