Best Lower Priced Cable Recommendations

Canare GS-6 vs Mogami 2524 vs Gepco x-band vs gepco GLC20 vs Lava Magma

Looking at buying 2 instrument cables (15ft) and 1 patch cable from the list above but I have no idea which to get! Please please please please can somebody just choose for me? ha.

I'm playing through single coils (strat) into a Deluxe Reverb re-issue.

Any replies will help, i have no idea!
Cheers

I've never tried the Mogami but I've been extremely happy with the Canare GS6 for several years. I play a Tele, dual HB Anderson, and a 55 Gibby ES125 through an Omega modded HRD.
No complaints. Good high end shimmer without losing body. Very responsive especially if you've been using lower end cables as I was before going to GS6.

In all fairness I've heard alot of good about the Mogami. It's a favorite of Bob Bradshaw of CAE.

Good luck with your quest. Between the two I don't think there is a bad choice.

Well, I use the Gepco XBand which is a great cable for the price. Very well sheilded. Durable. It's a low capacitance cable at 23 pF/ft so it is likely to be brighter, esp. w/ single coils and 250K pots, than the Mogami, which is similarly well made and well shielded but has a capacitance of 39 pF/ft. The Canare -- again a well made, well shielded cable -- will be warmer still at 49 pF/ft.

You can't really go wrong with any of those cables, it's really mostly a matter of personal preference and system matching. A Strat into a DRRI can be a pretty bright combo so you might favor the Mogami or even the Canare over my choice, the Gepco XBand. Probably, as a cable in the middle of the typical capacitance of guitar cables, the Mogami is the safest choice. Circa 33 pF/ft seems to be a good, middle capacitance figure that works for everybody.

I'm also playing pretty bright guitars into pretty bright amps, but I like warm speakers and warm stings -- round core pure nickels -- and I often play into the low impedance input of a BF Fender, and I keep my pickups pretty far away from the strings, so the low cap cable really works for me, giving me set ups where I get extended upper range frequency response (but where I try to flatten the peaks by using less peaky speakers and sometimes lower impedance inputs), and I get a useable range of tone when rolling back the volume knob without having to rely on a treble bleed circuit. If you like to work the volume and tone knobs, a low cap cable can be a good choice.

I can't really comment on the other cables in your list, though Lava as a retailer is excellent.

Chervokas has some great recommendations. I use mostly single coils into a Bandmaster Reverb or Super Reverb and I really like the Mogami. I have both Mogami and Canare in 10 ft lengths and they both sound good, the Mogami just matches what I want to hear better. It seems smooth and warm with nice punch. I even got a 10ft. Sommer Grindycop Beast and it's a great cable, but I am still using the Mogami. But, again, any of the brands you named should be a good cable, it's just a matter of which is a better match to your rig, and more importantly, your ears.

Well the Lava min ELC at, IIRC, 21 pF/ft, is good mini coax for a pedalboard -- I dunno if you want to get into making your own. The solderless kits are fine and the form factor on those plugs is great for tight spaces, but some might prefer to use soldered connections which I get. They made a soldered kit too. If you don't want to solder your own the little Dimarzio jumpers are good I think, though with their nylon jackets they can be a little stiff for flexing into tight spots and they're not so cheap.
