Guitar Center Workshops
Guitar Center is offering free recording clinics/workshops in the coming weeks on Saturday mornings.
Has anyone ever been to anything that they offer to the public? I don't know a thing about recording with the exception of recording my shows with a PCM D50 and I'd like to learn. What are your thoughts? Do they bring in actual studio engineer types or is it done by the staff on hand? thnx, b

It's free - why not?
It'll be a well-disguised sales pitch, but there'll probably be some useful info. The basics haven't changed in decades.

Call your local GC before showing up.
My son and I went to the GC in Wilmington DE last weekend. They did not offer this workshop at the DE GC. I was told that even though the website said 'every' GC, it was up to the individual stores to put it on. Just saying, I would call before you show up like I did. |

I attended one workshop - it was very specifically oriented around Garageband software. If you're like me and don't have a Mac or iPad - it wasn't exactly what I needed, but it was good for ideas and it was free. If you can ask some questions about your interests you can help steer the conversation.
