Should I be castrated for buying a copy??

I have always wanted an ES-335 Gibson. But just never had the cash or found one that felt right.
Then one night a friend came over with his Ibanez AS 200 1978 Vintage. After playing the Ibanez I was hooked. Sorry Gibson....
I love this Guitar. Cost me a nice Strat but it was well worth it.

As long as you play well, it's all good.

I've got both ES-335s *and* Ibanez versions, and while I really like the 335s I have (both pre-1970), I would SO much rather have the Ibanez than any of the current build Gibson 335s. In the '70's Ibanez was in copy mode, and it actually did a better job on a LOT of its copies than what the original company did on the guitars it copied.

The MIJ "copies" that I've played (ESP/Edwards, early Ibanez, Greco) have been stellar guitars and are generally accepted and praised by most guitar players.

no, you should be castrated for (possibly) thinking that only the OEM can make their product well and that any other brand is inferior as a result.

Copy's are only frowned upon when they're less expensive... boutique? Then it's AOK

Nah -- but seriously don't feel bad about getting a copy. If you like it then that's what matters.

Yes you should

In fact you must be castrated! Report to the Slash Medical Clinic within the next 72 hours.

Almost every Ibanez electric guitar I have picked up has been nicely made. Enjoy!

I thought this was going to be about those cheap chinese knockoffs that actually say 'gibson'. As long as the guitar has the proper manufacturer's name on it then there's no shame in it at all - all it says is that you were smart enough to get a good value. Wear it proud.
