Visual Sound pedals?
Who uses them? Who recommends them?
I just found a You Tube series of blind tests where most of the subjects chose the Visual Sound pedals over more common choices (boutique and legendary). Visual Sound didn't always win, but when they didn't, they were darn close. They look, and sound, pretty darn good, and the price is not terribly off-putting. Steve |

You think they look good? Honestly.. that's the only part I dislike about them. They are always weird shaped and they seem to be way too big for what they do. They do sound nice though!

I had the route 808 and the comp 66. I had the single ones that way i could chose where in the chain I wanted each. Loved them both. Plan on getting them again. Sold them to try new things but want them again. The comp 66 is quiet and the bass boost on the 808 really turns something good into something great. I recommend them if u care about sound and not looks, some people hate them due to their weired look but they sound great and that's what counts in my book.

Sorry, I meant the quality "appears" to be good :-)
Yes, they do like kind of, well, silly. In fact, it's the main reason I've never considered them before because they kind of looked like Tombstones or Coffins, and with the whole Jekyll and Hyde thing I thought they were catering to the death metal crowd. I also didn't like the name Jekyll and Hyde - again seemed a marketing ploy for the death metal set (and when a company does that, it starts to sound like Digitech). But the 808, and the Chorus sound *really* good. I like all the drives and distortions but would be most interested in the Open Road and the 808 (or possibly the Jekyll and Hyde). Steve |

I own the Jekyll and Hyde. Most days I like it, but sometimes I just can't get anything with it. When I'm actually playing with a band I've never had any problems with it. It fits in well and I really like the controls on the distortion side. The overdrive side, compared to my ts808, is pretty hot and very bright but thats with the bass boost off, but with the bass boost on it has always seemed too low to me. I definitely prefer the ts808 to the overdrive on the j&h but it has its uses for sure. I've only ever heard good things about the route 66 however. I'm thinking of having my jekyll and hyde modded. All that being said its a good pedal. I got mine for $60. I don't know that i would pay full price for it with everything else out there. As for the words about it being "metal", it most definitely can be, but I don't play metal and I can find many uses for it so that's that.

I tried out the H2O and Liquid Chorus for a while once. I wanted to know two things: Was the Liquid Chorus really the same as the chorus side of the H2O, and did I like the H2O?
Answer was, yeah, the LC sounds just like the chorus side of the H2O, supposed to be the same circuit and all, but you never know. Anyhow, I really liked that chorus alot. Only thing that stopped me was not having a wet/dry blend control. Didn't care much for the delay side, but then again, I'm an analog delay kinda guy. Nice pedals though. Oh, and I should point out, I was testing the V2 H2O, dunno about the OG version.

Those videos are produced, set up, and hosted by Visual Sound. They are not a blind test. They are marketing. They are a sales pitch to you. It's totally fine if you like the pedals, but do not believe that these are true, objective blind tests.

Visual Sound stuff is terribly underrrated around here. I always found the Route 66 to be very handy for country-ish gigs. The Open Road is my favorite in their line. Boutique grade tone at Boss prices.

I used a Jekyll & Hyde as my only distortion for years. There's definitely better pedals, but they're still very good. I actually own 2 of the red ones right now - my original red that I've had for years and a V2 red one that I'm looking to get rid of. I'll probably never get rid of my original red one (as it is pretty beat up - but I'm thinking about getting it modded), but the other red one I just don't need so it's in the emporium right now.

Loved the original H20. I only sold it to make space for a tap-tempo delay, but I miss the chorus.

Open Road is one of the best OD's on the market, bar none.
True Tone is the best clean boost I've used. Rt. 66 is endlessly useful for both the comp and OD circuit. There's also the garagetone line, of which the Drivetrain is particularly awesome. And the wew Dual Tap Delay too! Seems killer. I love everything they do, pretty much. They're very underrated on this forum. I agree with them philosophically (in regards to buffers) and I appreciate the quality of their builds, which include the toughest switches in the industry, and built-in goodies like RF killer (no radio through your rig ever), and some even have build in, switchable noise reduction. Just great work all around. Bob Weil is an industry innovator for dual pedals all over. And RG Keen, a lead designer there, is also one of the most respected pedal tech guys anywhere.

one of the best buffers in the business
still I think their pedal design could do with an overhaul

big fan of the H20 (v1 and v2) and Route 66 comp yes they are big but i like them as theyre perfect for the "back/rear" section of a wide board...so theyre raised up.
my demos... plus...you cant go wrong with someone like RG Keen behind the designs. ill prob pick up a liquid chorus (the single one) sometime in the future.

If they would just change their cases so they wouldn't eat up so much extra pedalboard space.
