Caffeine addicts, where is your favorite place to get Coffee?

For those of us who choose to not make our own Coffee at home, where do you like to get a nice cup of joe? Flame me for this but I actually like Starbucks regular, plain ol' brewed Coffee. It's quite good. Another is, (yes flame me again) is Mcdonalds. It is rich, deep and flavorful. I also hear Dunkin Doughnuts makes some good java. So where do YOU like to go?

I drink espresso. I like Starbucks for its consistency.

In Germany I'd get espresso from machines in rest stops that crushed anything I've ever had in the states. I'd walk into any coffee shop and the espresso would be fantastic.

Where I live, the Starbucks all have a crowded, intense vibe. (Coincidence? Hah.) Not all that much fun for sitting in. Although I like the coffee

McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts seemed to have changed their coffee in the last decade. It just seems weaker and less flavorful. Either that or my taste buds have been changed by all the rich, dark, good coffee that I make or buy.

I still like finding privately owned coffee shops. The cups are small, but the waitresses keep refilling them. Often it's good stuff.

If you like coffee but don't like the bitterness of Starbucks, ordan an Americano (espresso in hot water) there (I always ask to leave room for cream). It's become my favorite espresso drink.

I avoid Starbucks.
Its a long story but Howard "the RAT" Schultz is a big rat....(imho).
I havent spent a nickle at their place since he sold the Sonics out of state (basketball team).
Plus their coffee is overpriced and tastes like burnt rubber.

I use local side stands. I get Americanos, black.
Currently I like the stands that use "Urban coffee"
I used to like drip coffee, but once you get some good Americanos, drip tastes like coffee flavored water.
16oz 2 shots or 20oz 3 shots

The girls have to know how to make the shots though.
Some do some dont. More and more though they are learning that they have to get it right or the stand doesnt get buisness.
There's a place locally (Vinaccios) that does their own roasting. Its crazy good coffee. Plus they have a deal where you spend $25 on a prepaid card and it credits you $40. WIN!

I have scoped out a few good indy cafes: New World Coffee in Raleigh, Cup A Joe in Chapel Hill, Shenandoah Joe in Charlottesville, etc.

When the big chains are all I can find at the moment, Carribou for regular coffee, Starbucks for espresso.

Home is the best, I make it just the way I like it.
There are a number of excellent independent coffee shops here that serve up a pretty damn good cuppa joe. Great tasting Espresso and atmosphere are becoming almost common here. More and more cafe are sporting live acoustic acts as well.

Ps - I have a manual La Pavoni at home, and I like Peet's beans the best as well.

Dunkin Donuts is incredibly inconsistent. And most times, it's the owner's/workers just not giving a sh*t, and making weak coffee, or leaving it on WAY too long and burning it.

Can't remember the last time that I got a GOOD cup from DD.

When I was in Italy, ANY little coffee shop could make an espresso that would SLAY anything from a "fancy" coffee shop here.

I like Devon & Blakey. Not a big fan of their soups, salads, or sandwiches, but the coffee is killer.

Nice! I have a Pavoni lever machine myself, and back in the day, I used to have Peets delivered. There's a local place that roasts a mean Sumatra though, so that's what I used.

I even have a Pavoni grinder that I hacked to make a nicer espresso grind.

I simply don't have the time for setup/teardown/cleanup in order to get a couple of shots out of that rig though. Plus, I travel a lot, and time is the enemy when I'm on the road.
