I had a Floyd Professionally removed a few years ago from a guitar, and a Tunamatic installed. Mahogany was used to fill in the route-no problems at all.
Worked fine. Sustain increased. But with the amps I play through I don't think it really matters. ![]() But now, if you don't mind me asking, why not just wait a few weeks and get a Tremol-no? I found that I'm so used to having a Floyd there, that it's more comfortable for me to play just knowing the bridge is there, whether I use it or not. YMMV.

VegasGreg,
i'm sick of the FR! it's a hassle to have to cut the ball ends when re-stringing. i hate fumbling around for an allen wrench when i need to retune. it just plain looks gawdy! will re-routing damage the existing finish? (my guitar has a fotoflame.) i do hope that the sustain and resonance increases. will the neck be weakened by the two screwholes (hehe) left by the locking nut?

I've been doing it for more than a decade now, with fantastic results. Plus, it's only one clip with the wire cutters.
