Mail question for OSX Lion users (embedded attachments)

Does anybody know how to add attachments to an email in Mail 5.1 so that they aren't embedded in the text box of the message? For example, if you attach a picture, it puts the full picture awkwardly in the text box. I just want to attach it simply like you would on the Hotmail or Gmail website. Thanks in advance.

I think that's just how it works. I know people on the other end get it as an attachment. I'd use Mail as my main email client if it didn't do this (I have to use Outlook instead).

Check this out if you're not afraid of using Terminal. Go here.

That's how it does it. If you send it to someone using an Outlook client, it will show as an attachment. Mail shows attachments in the body of the message. Some other clients don't.

Use the paperclip icon to add it as an attachment. This will make a true attachment compatible with Windows and office networks where they can't use the imbedded file.
