Ever buy from ChrisGuitars.com

I have been to his website a bunch over the past few years but never bought from him. His prices look good and the descriptions are good. The pictures are clear and balanced as far as what I want to see.

Does anyone here have any experience buying from him? Do descriptions match the items quality?

Thanks for any input you may have.

Good luck having him actually return an e-mail or a phone call. I've literally e-mailed him with the message "please send me your PP address so I can send payment immediately" and gotten nothing back.

The curtains do match the carpets with him though, it's just nearly impossible to actually buy something b/c he's horrific at e-mail contact.

Yep, I bought a Peavey Wolfgang from him a while back. The quality of the guitar (at least in my case) is every bit as good as he said, it's an excellent guitar and was in great condition when I got it. The price wasn't exactly a steal, but it was fair and reasonable.

My only real complaint is that he is really slow in responding to emails. I had to keep after him to get the deal done. Tried calling him a few times, same thing. I'm sure he's busy and all, but man... it was like pulling teeth to get a hold of the guy.

[Edit - I type too slow, Guitar Josh beat me to it]

Anyway, search a bit and I think you'll find similar experiences as mine. If you can actually get in touch with him, he has some really nice guitars at reasonable prices. Good luck!

Bought tons of stuff from Chris over the course of at least the last ten years, probably more. A lot of them were keepers that I still own. Scrupulously honest and always a pleasure to deal with. Plus he speciallizes in the affordable range of the market where all the fun is; lots of buried treasure to be found there.

Yeah, he can be tough to reach sometimes. Persevere, you'll find a way. It's worth the effort imo.

I bought a pedal a while back. The price was kind of high, but he isn't a discounter and he knows what he has. The next time I contacted him about buying something else, I never received a response.

Just call him - he's always up to his neck in emails.

I've purchased several instruments and they were always better than described. He's an actual honest guy, so don't hesitate to buy something from him.

I've bought three guitars from him in the past four years. He's a straight shooter, just hard to get a hold of some times.

4 buys, 2 trades all reasonable and fair. AFAIK, he's a one man operation on the retail side (he has a setup guy). I dig the player grade selection.

If you see something you really want, you may need to send multiple emails, this is true.
Once after over a week of no reply, he emailed to say that after first 'taker' backed out, I was up. Got the guitar (80 Ibanez Studio) soon afterward.

Highy recommended if you are willing to deal with a small operation.

Same experience here. He's a 1-man shop, and from what he says, gets completely inundated with emails daily.

Skip the email, try to call him until you get a hold of him.

After that, it's smooth sailing.

I have done many deals with Chris over the past 15 years. Top notch guy, straight shooter, and very fair in his prices and trade values. His operation has grown over the years and he isn't the most timely in responding to emails. Word of advice - give him a phone call. A couple of months back I sent him a few emails with a trade offer and didn't get a response. I called him and spoke to him on the first attempt. I told him about the emails, he apologized, and told me in the future to just give him a call.
