RIP Chris Kent

Bassist Chris Kent passed away this morning. Chris was an amazing bass player and one of the kindest men that I have ever met. I got to know him while we I was working for Lorrie Morgan. For those of you not familiar with him, check out the Steve Lukather/Larry Carlton "Live in Japan" cd/dvd. That is Chris. He is sorely missed.

I'd seen Chris with Larry Carlton on more than one occasion. Bummer.

44 years old.

Re Chris Kent

Chris was a close friend who played on many of my projects and performed many shows with me as well, dating back to 1989. Not only was he one of the best bass players on the planet, he was one of the most wonderful guys to be around too. His performance with Larry and Steve earned him a Grammy on that record in 2002. At 44 he was way too young to go. He will be greatly missed.

Here's an outro of one of the tracks Chris did with me. it was cut around Christmas time 2006 and is in the final stages of mixing (finally), to be released soon. I was also doing some remixes last week from a Christmas instrumental jazz project that had Chris on it, it was very difficult knowing that this moment was close at hand.

weird I was just listening to an inside musicast interview with Chris and wondering what happened to him, and stumbled across this thread, very sad, he was a killer player, and sounds like a genuinely nice guy. God bless his family!!
