Arrow Black Friday 2011 -- Thread for guitar shopping deals

TGPers -- Now that November is upon us, some really good shopping deals are cropping up, with the biggest ones likely to come up on Black Friday. Let's post them on this thread as you find them. Include all deals on all things guitar.

Unless you need new or something specific that never pops up used, I can't imagine buying a new guitar these days. Not that good deals don't exist sometimes, but many are discounts off highly overpriced guitars in the first place... IMHO.

The best deals are on amazing used & vintage guitars in places like the Emporium. There's an absolute slew of them. Last time I went browsing the guitars there I stepped away from the keyboard as the new owner of an '06 Historic Les Paul Junior. And, I had no intention to do anything except browsing.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll start with the first one. Not a super deep discount, but a good time to pick up a Sienna burst Strat at a good price if that's your thing.

2011 Fender American Standard Stratocaster, Sienna Sunburst, Maple Neck $1149.

Fender is currently offering a $100 instant rebate on Am Stds, bringing the price to $1049.
Guitar Center is offering $200 off a purchase of $999 or more (code "JUMPSTART").

Total price comes to $849

I agree with cold. With all the Ebay, CL, and pawn shop deals I can't imagine shopping for a new guitar. The only thing I buy new is strings.

Can you apply both discounts at GC? Don't they normally exclude Fender from their coupon offers? Thanks

Guitar Center has a decent deal going on with some value packs of guitar + amp. Usually these sorts of deals are for beginner guitars + small solid state amps, but right now they have the following deals on some nicer gear:

$1999 Fender '62 Stratocaster + Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue

$1999 Fender '52 Reissue Telecaster + Princeton Reverb Reissue

$2299 Fender '52 Hot Rod Telecaster + Princeton Reverb Reissue

$2299 Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster + Princeton Reverb Reissue

These are pretty good deals. The PRRI usually sells for $899, so on the first deal above it is like paying the usual street price on a PRRI and getting a '62 AVRI Stratocaster for $1100, which is a little bit lower than a typical price for a used one.

Posted this in the modeling sub-forum, but figured I'd put it here too.

GC online has the JTV-69 (customer returned) for $1217.99. With the coupon code "JUMPSTART" going on right now, it knocks another $200 off that price to $1017.99. The coupon code works for "used" gear on the GC website. Looks like a good deal on a JTV for anyone thinking about jumping into the whole modeling thing. There's also a JTV-59 for $100 more.

They're guitars. Call up any dealer and negotiate like you would any other day of the year.

I wouldn't rule our deals on new guitars.

Last month I picked up a new LP Special at MF for $699. That's great, especially considering I could have sent it back if I didn't like it.

Some odd responses going down. There has been a Black Friday thread every year for at least the last 5 or 6 years. That's how I got my ES-339; 20% off from MF on Black Friday the first year that they were introduced. Found out about it here!

I scored a sweet deal last year, too. A Fender Kenny Wayne Strat for $450. Some of the deals on new gear this time of year are far better than anything you'd get any other time of the year. This is also a time of year when buying new can often result in a better deal than buying used.

I snagged a new Gibson axcess for $1999 which came with a free melody maker. Sold the mm to subsidize the purchase. better deal than i could have got used. Deals are out there for new guitars, just takes some patience and internet sleuthing.

Something tells me with the economy dog paddling like this, it might be a very good time of the year for those looking for something new, be it guitar OR amp. There are deals to be had. This is a worthwhile thread, thanks for its creation. Many eyes are better than two.

On another thread, a TGP'er just got an sweet deal on new 2011 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute with Humbuckers for $749 through MF with the $100 off. Phoning in the order is the key here ..... exclusions appear to be a non-issue over the phone. And, it looks like zzounds.com would go even lower in price. Awesome deal on these.
