The greatest (wierd) cover band I have ever been in
I found an old song list for one of my old bands I used to play bass in. We did two bands with the same guys in both bands. One was a really great blues bands where the guitar player sang all the tunes and the other was a weird cover band wheere we all sang different tunes.
here is a partial songlist we worked off....(my sister described us as the craziest iPod on shuffle) Song List (partial) Shine on you Diamond/Pink Floyd Lemon Song/Led Zepplin Message in the Bottle/Police Communication Breakdown/Led Zepplin Paranoid/Black Sabbath Fairies Wear Boots/Black Sabbath Galaxy/Blind Melon No Rain/Blind Melon Honkey Tonk Women/Stones Longview/Green Day cold gin/KISS pinball wizard/the who lovin touchin squeezing/journey when I come around/green day last goodbye/buckley bastille day/rush spririt of radio/rush hotel california/eagle goin to california/zepplin wish you were here/pink floyd streets have no name/U2 any way you want it/journey buford stick/the drive by truckers Zip City/the drive by truckers soul to squeeze/red hot peppers won't get fooled again/the who crosssroads/cream roxanne/police no excuses/alice in chains dani california/red hot chilis can't always get what you want/the stones what you are doin/rush Brain damage/pink floyd one/U2 lights/journey remedy/black growes beast of burden/stones the living bubba/the drive by truckers love song/tesla young lust/pink floyd sin city/ac/dc under hte bridge/red hot chillis heaven beside/alice in chains jane says/janes addiction whole lot of love rock'n'roll/zepplin |

I like it. I might pull out the Journey songs, personally, but there are a bunch of other popular tunes to replace those with anyway. This is a good example of a set list made up of songs everyone knows without it having to have overplayed standards in it.
I guess the big question is, were you successful with this set list?

No seeing how this is weird or all that different than anything else out there. I've played many of those songs in bands at one time or another. Good stuff though.

Up in Northeast wisconsin it was pretty wierd to mix all these songs apparently.
We were moderately successful on the covers, but nothing like or blues band, which was pretty successful, but were still more rock'n'roll than blues, at least to me. |
