How Are Land Rovers/Range Rovers These Days Reliability-Wise?

I'm kinda liking the looks of the Range Rover Sport, a new one is way outta my price range but a used one with some miles on it could be more palatable. How are they these days as far as being reliable and are the V8s still anemic?

There are good ones if you get one that has The BMW Motor. Stay away from the "Discovery".

I have an old high school friend who has an entire facebook photo album dedicated to photos he's taken while his Range Rover has broken down leaving him stranded. It's pretty funny. It's almost a weekly occurrence.

I owned one for an hour and a half back in August of this year. No need to elaborate.

They come with factory oil leaks.

I bought a used Freelander. It had 33K miles. I had it for two days and took it back. The transmission wasn't shifting properly and the radio would crank itself for no reason. That thing had demons.

...My brother is a master mechanic. He's worked on everything. What he said about range rovers was not good...Get yourself a Toyota Land Cruiser. They are indestructible.

A friend of mine dumped hers after it was in the shop more than it was on the road, I think she had a 2007-2008 model. She practically gave it away after the transmission bailed for the second time, said she couldn't wait to get rid it.

But uhhh.... YMMV.
