You are correct. It was just a figure of speech, however, hate was the word that I/we used when I was a youngster.

I still remember the bad taste in my mouth, though.

Tebow

Just kidding. Actually, I admire the guy for how he's handling the circus.

I've got to go Troy Aikman...just because

I was (and remain) a Houston Oilers fan, so Terry Bradshaw. That was a great rivalry.

When I was a kid I was a Cowboys fan, so I never liked Theismann. I thought he looked so stupid with that single bar facemask too!!

Ryan Leaf. So much potential morphed into so much douchery.

Favre. It doesn't even have anything to do with his off the field antics (that's just icing on the cake of hate). It's his constant need for attention, years of retirement indecision, unretiring, going to the Vikings, and then disrespecting Aaron Rodgers this year (should've won earlier but 12 wasn't ready) that pushed Favre into unredeemable territory for me. What still gets me riled up is how he retired for a whole offseason and then wanted to come back at training camp. Then, he had the gall to act like everyone should have just waited for him to change his mind 3 months later?! After that and the 4 years previous of "will he, won't he" it was enough. I'm glad Favre is done.

Remember that video of Seau chewing out Leaf in the locker room? Classic!

Gotta agree with Favre's annoying need for attention. But gotta respect the guy's skills and winning attitude.
