Jimmy Zaleski - Dreams 1970

Approximately 1970 Guitar clip live, featuring myself on guitar and Bob Martin on Hammond B3. Bob Martin is best known as Frank Zappa's featured vocalist, in later years. I was approximately 20 years old. Recording was not professional, simply a couple of microphones placed in the audience. Guitar rig was a Black Panel Twin with the speakers disconnected, cranked through a 60's Marshall cabinet, a Clyde McCoy, and a 57 Gold Top, originally owned by Ricky Vito, a high school buddy. No other effects, or overdrive pedals were used ---- just the amp cranked all the way up, Bass 10, Treble 7, Mids 4, Reverb 3, worn tubes, bias out of whack and mismatch on ohms -- the PAF's obviously important, but the Clyde McCoy equally so, even when not used -- it's NOT true bypass. No rules applied.

WOW - my old friend Jimmy and my Favorite guitar solo of ALL time !!! THAT solo was maybe one of the first I actually tried as hard as possible to copy - IT WAS SO OUT ! Jimmy's signature stutter step takes me back.

Sure sounds like Jerry on bass - 360 ? Malcom on vocals ?

PLayed opposite them in Somers Point with my buddy Dave Strong from my house in Ocean City. A true life time ago.
thanks. Ever heard Jimmy play pedal steel ?

Really enjoyed that thanks for posting that solo was blues and jazz (in and out) it felt like you were going to explode into an all out jazz thing then it suddenly stopped..... we want more... Wow.

Top notch players to work with back then. The main singer was not the best but did a great job of 'selling' the band. Bob Martin did great on whatever vocals were not lost to oblivion. There are some other recordings of this band floating around I can post, if there is interest. Some are just OK, but some are magic -- a lot of both came out of boredom from gigging 5 or 6 nights a week for 3 years, and whatever got captured, is all that's left.

Strat -- I saw Jerry about a year ago. He's got a big wedding/horn band called 'Jelly-Roll' -- still gigging in the Philly area. I'm sure you know Bob Martin became Frank Zappa's featured vocalist, Jay is still in Richmond. I used to see Malcolm in Florida once a year, but haven't for a while - He had something to do with Bo Didley up in NYC, and I don't know if you remember Jose - but he's back in PR, still gigging.

It was a fun band for 20 year olds in the early 70's -- Very few magic moments got captured, with a lot of average stuff still floating around.

Thanks Bgormley - We were not the common ordinary club band of that era.
