Axe-FX II v3.0 Bogner XTC Blue & Red - short clip

This came out of a TGP post about Bogner tones.

This is a quick clip of me using my personal tones of the Bogner Blue and Red models for that type of tone the way I dial it and run with it live.

I like a little bit of 'ass' in my tone; but I have a PEQ block at the ready on my MFC that blocks up to 100Hz if it's too much... (it's never too much!)

Any way, I'll be doing in-depth stuff on all this soon (and sharing presets), but here's a little take on the Blue and Red with me showing a little bit of the dynamics that can be done with just rolling off the guitar's volume and picking softer can do.

The guitar is my PRS Custom 22 with a Duncan JB in the bridge. Recorded direct via USB into Reaper. Only active blocks in the signal path are amp, cab and reverb.

I redid mine without all the post EQ. I couldn't get the USB driver to work. Froze my software so still delta 1010 (which is actually pretty transparent):

I'm not a fan of the 1010. I've owned it, I do not think highly of it at all and disagree about 'transparent'; though I recognize we could be talking about different things. IMHO, YMMV.

Have you loaded up the newest (1.50) version of the USB Driver? It's on the Fractal Site, on the Support Page.

If you haven't tried the newest driver, please do. Then compare your direct in versus your interface and you'll hear the difference.

I got on to the 1010 years ago as a reco from
http://www.m-audio.com/news/en_us-134.html

We used to hang in the old Cakewalk forums on usenet.

Anyhoo, I'll get to the bottom of the driver issue and I do have the latest. It's my version of XP that's wayyyyy outdated.

No I have sp2 still... It's my recording side of this computer. Dual OS. It's on it's own partition and doesn't have anything running but audio. I have to reboot every time I make a clip.

Speaking of that and just so you don't think I don't love my axe fx II. Here's something a little more fun than just trying to match a crunch tone. I took that dry bogner and did what Fractal does really well....added effects.

Can you update SP2 to SP3? I imagine that'd have to be an issue. No one I know still runs SP2...

My Bogner tones are essentially dry; you don't need the sauce to make them work. If your tone works for you, then great! If not, email me (or post up) the preset and we can look at getting it closer to what you like. Or not... your decision. I'm willing to help.

No use starting another Bogner thread so I'll put these here. This is probably what I will use live. I will dial down the delay as well as reduce verb for live but it will sound pretty much the same:

Tele here. This clip clips a bit. Sorry. I use Tele's and Strat mostly live:

Les Paul here:

Sounds great - and illustrates something I have always loved about the Axe-FX. We are using the same signal processor, the same amp model... and our tones sound absolutely different.

With some other boxes, you have one sound they all share if you have this many factors the same.

It's one of the things I love about the Axe-FX, it does not homogenize your individuality.
