R.I.P. Gary Speed

I was rocked today when I learned not only had Gary Speed died aged 42 but also reports in the papers from the UK that he'd hung himself in an apparant suicide........I am devastated.
As some of you may recognize from my sig -I am Newcastle fan through and through and no self respecting Geordie couldn't LOVE what that gave gave to our team. One of the few, over the past years, who could hold his head high whilst taking his paypacket and say "i gave my all" - he was a friggin' rock - .......period!

What happened in his llife I have no idea, maybe we never will - but for true footer fans around the globe who may read this - spare a thought and a moment for "Speedo" especially you Geordies and the Taffs out there............what a loss...................

Oh man - i am so saddened by this news.

For those who've no idea what t this is about - sorry - for those who do..........you know the strength of feeling here.
Peace
Bradders.

There's a line in the 'Rumble in the Jungle' documentary, 'When We Were Kings', that goes "Who knows what goes on inside another man's head."

Very sad news, especially leaving behind a wife and two kids.

Why? I was shocked.
Was he in serious debt or something?

Even a dummy from the U.S. like me can see that a heralded U.K. sports figure died of a suicide. Sorry about the loss OP.

So sad, so young and so much ahead of him.

And Wales is finally getting somewhere, and their manager dies.

He was a great footballer and manager and by all accounts a first class individual.

So much success as a player and as a manager he was really turning things around for the Welsh national team. Just the day before he was doing press and seemed fine. Hard to fathom what kind of issues people struggle with internally to take such extreme actions. Such a shame.

I watched some of the Swansea-Villa match this morning, a match full of players who played with or for Gary Speed and needless to say it was a very somber match with a moment of silence before the start. Shay Given was visibly shaken yet played on through the tears.

RIP Mr. Speed.

Coincidentally, I learned friday that an old acquaintance offed himself a little while back.

For some reason his chosen method is especially disturbing to me.

I apologize if this is old news and I'm not trying to hijack the thread.

He was on Football Focus on Saturday, and on Sunday he was dead.

RIP Mr. Speed.

Any suicide under any circumstances is tragic.
