IDT Energy Scam • SPREAD THE WORD!

Seriously, google "IDT Energy Scam".

There's a company called IDT Energy tricking people into switching Natural Gas suppliers by calling you on the phone and asking for your current account number. They sound TOTALLY legit and are, in fact, a legitimate energy supplier, but they are employing unethical borderline (some would say more than that) fraudulent practices to gain your business.

Taking advantage of de-regulation to make you switch even if you don't want to... to a company that, let's face it, based on the way they conduct business and marketing, may not be a company you want to do business with at all...

They called me on the phone and asked for my current account number... NEVER GIVE PERSONAL INFO TO ANYBODY WHO CALLS YOU. I was not sucked in, but they are super smooth... Very convincing... A lot of folks are going to get burned...

Spread the word.

Yup... me neither... but some folks do, and this guy makes it sound like he's calling on behalf of one of your creditors! In my case, he even did this to me although my number is on the do not call list.

I did NOT get scammed, btw... I'm pretty savvy... But this was so smooth and clever (and the company actually is a legitimate energy supplier and might even cost less (for a month or two, maybe...)... I thought I'd spread the love and ask you guys to consider doing that, too!

If I ask you who you have for your cell phone, you might say that you're with T-Mobile. Now when you say with, you mean that you're a customer of T-Mobile, not that you work for T-Mobile.
Flip that around and a telemarketer calls you and says, "Hi, I'm with T-Mobile and I'd like to talk....." In that context, most people are going to think that person WORKS for T-Mobile.
That is the game they play. These companies are aggregators. They buy large amounts at a discount and then resell it to you. The idea is they sell to you for less than you could buy direct. On paper, that's fine. Not a scam exactly, but the degree of salesmanship (and that's being kind) leaves you wondering how legit they really are. I won't deal with them.
I'm polite, but I don't even acknowledge my identity over the phone until I know what company I'm dealing with.
