My new strat mod: Win or Fail???

I was looking to mod my strat into something that sounded different.
Here's what I did: Is it a win or a fail?

Turns out this turned my ok Mexi into a strat monster. It sounds really nice. Super chimy, yet still has some low end beef. A bit brighter with less low mids than my 97 American.
Since I'm not a huge strat guy, I'm going to trade or sell my American. I'd love to get a Gibson LP tribute. Miss mine dearly.
I'll put it up here in a few weeks. I have been out of work and have not paid up on my supporting fee. Thanx for looking. Comments welcome.

I saw John Mayer playing a strat with lipsticks on the 2007 Crossroads DVD. Sounded fantastic! I'd say win!

It's a win because it sounds better to you. I assume you mean the pickups and not the vol pot.

Total Win.

I had GFS lipsticks in a partscaster recently. They sounded decent, but the guitar had issues. I wanna do another lipstick tube Strat, though. I love that chime and they look cooler than anything.

What pickups are they?

That's the best part!
I got them from TOG on ebay. It was a total crap shoot. They are either Tog or GFS which Tog does use.
The pots look terrible. Sounds great on 10, but at 9 or below its all gone.
I paid $90 for the loaded pickguard. I did the vol mod myself. Hate that thing.

Nice!

I'm the same on the volume pot....prefer it moved down, if possible. I've had custom pickguards cut w/o that slot before. I tend to hit it a lot.

It has been one of his main axes for a while. Great tones and superb playing.

Keep the American Strat and mod it.

Sorry, I don't know how to embed videos.

How could it be a fail if it's your guitar and you like it?

Moving the volume knob is definitely a win. There's no guitar fail quite like the strat volume knob placement fail, failing since 1954.

Win! I'm getting ready to put together an SRV Charley for a friend... He is ordering the Mojotone lipsticks. Can't wait to get it together!

I would say that if it sounds better to you, then it's a "win".
