Barber Direct Drive...which one?

I own a LTD v 2 and it's a fantastic low gain OD. I'd like something with a little more hair. The DD looks interesting but there are several versions. Can anyone give me a simple description of each?

The Direct drive (DD) is the basic model. The Super sport (DDSS) adds an 2 internal trim pots. A mid trim and a note shape trim pot aka pre bass, or a pre distortion bass. The DD mod/pcb adds too much stuff to describe. See the Barber web site and/or do some searches or check in at the Barber electronics forum.

The regular Direct Drive (I own one) has interior trimpots inside for Bass and Presence to kind of tailor the pedal's overall EQ to your amp-effective! (Note: the surface Tone Control is pretty subtle but effects primarily the highs)

The controls on the top are for Volume, Tone (with a "pull-harmonics" switch that really adds harmonics to the distortion produced) and Drive. The distortion is rich and full with great sustain- but not pure saturation- there is great detail and some clean tone is always in the mix. The DD is also capable of a pretty nice cleanish boost with the Volume UP and the Drive OFF! Very nice rock pedal!

so the super sport has the same gain on tap as the basic dd, just the added internals...I LOVE the idea of a pre-distortion bass control on a dirt pedal...

my direct drive has the tone set at 3 oclock (pretty high by most pedal standards) and pulled out as well...

great pedal

I think the SS has more gain due to the Harmonics trim pot.

The Super Sport sounds a lot thicker than the stock DD.. great pedal, you can dial back some of the trim pots and get the stock DD sounds as well! Highly recommend the Super Sport

The DD LG is like the British cousin of the LTD.

I have a lot of Barber pedals, but my only DD is the B-Custom SS. It has a TON more gain than my LTD V1. It also has more bass. The gain level seems similar to the Small Fry I stupidly sold.

I just got the LTD today, but if I had to pick one, it would be the SS. It seems more versatile, AND I like the sound a little bit better, thus far.
