Probably the speaker - is it new speaker? Did you get a new cable? New strings?

might be the speaker breaking in, or you've simply never noticed them before.

Which amp did you get ?

Hi barny...it will keep getting better until you have fully broken in the speakers and amp.

Also depending on what you currently run, tubes may make a difference too.

If you really want your head to spin...read some Scott Lerner posts on what make 'em sound better.

Most new speakers are like butterflies barely cracking the cocoon.

Yes there is a break in period for the amp as well.

Just ask the redplate owners.

Speakers are really the bigger deal though...imho

they can go from sounding reallly crap to sounding really good and it can take up to 6 mos if you are not giving heavy use to the amp.

I've noticed that my Glaswerks SOD II has seemed to open up and "break-in" over time, but it could be that I'm just dialing it in better too. I break-in all my speakers with a variac for 24 hours before use, so I don't think it's a speaker thing, especially given that I've noticed this sweetening with every speaker I use, even those w/o as many hours as others (after the formal break-in).

I built a D'Lite a few years ago. Yes, components settle in, the tubes break in too. I noticed a gradual sweetening of the amp within the first 40 hours. My speaker was already broken in.

Amps break in over time due to temperature cycling of the components.

The sound change is very dramatic on a new amp on its first power up. You can hear it change a lot over the course of it's first hour of life....
