It does make sense - and sounds pretty similar.
Maybe you'll have to change the caps - they leak over time. that happened to my DM2 too - once I changed them, it was working perfect again.

Man, I just checked... Mine is a OC84, no "d". The one that has a "d" variation is the OC81.
The Oc84 has more range in the dirt than an OC75....
