Nah. The 1980's was virtually the decade of The Doors. No joke. Jim Morrison's face was everywhere. Movies (Lost Boys), magazines, MTV video, etc.
I would say (IMHO) music from the 1970's is miles closer to the music from the 1960's versus from the 1950's to the 1960's.
