I would’ve said 10,000 series Super Lead, 2” OT with EL-34’s. But that Cream photo above just about does it.
I just bought a used (but minty!) Carol-Ann OD-2 100 with TAD 6L6WGC-STR for $1780. Good amp in the Two Rock/D*mble vein.
I own the sister amp to the one for auction here, and I can vouch for the amp, and the seller. Good guy, great packing job (I live in Hawaii!),...
2xKT88’s, and a Ultra Linear OT, sounds like a half power Marshall Major circuit.
If I may be honest, a Deluxe Reverb reissue with a speaker change and good tubes sound like it’s exactly what you’re looking for.
A pair of Celestion G12N-40’s.
My experience with them is in a 2x10 Brown Vibroverb reissue. In that amp, they’re a louder, more chimey version...
Truthfully, though the 2x10 can be midrange-y (depending on speakers), that’s the one I would keep.

Quick Carol Ann question. Can a Tucana 2 be converted to a 6550 powered OD2?
Sounds like the Creamback G12H75 is the speaker for DG. 50oz magnet and 75w voice coil!
Truth be told, the best sounding thing I have played into my '59 Bassman LTD is a plain old TS-808. No lie. Using humbucker guitars (SG, LP 335)...
Thanks for your response.
I agree, advocating others playing ungrounded amps is irresponsible. But let's be clear that I didn't/don't.
Thanks for that.
To each his/her own. Enjoy! :beer
By your comment, you have a predisposed bias towards not hearing a difference. But, if you are willing, at your own risk, go home and plug-in...
Before getting into all of this, changing any component of an electrical circuit has potential to be LETHAL. Please proceed with caution!
Changing the (composition/value of) plate/cathode resistors and adding a Local Negative Feedback Loop will get you quite a bit of the way there.
How big and round of a Fender tone do you want?
I use a quad of old G12-80's in a Marshall 4x12.
