I forget how/where I got this amp. Reverend Hellhound 40/60 with a 4-10" speaker cab. Not long after I joined this site and started on my search for a great amp. Basically a hobby that I enjoyed for about 6 years. This was a great amp but its sale allowed me to buy the next amp, and the next amp...
Although the first instrument I played in Rock and Roll was drums, I didn't get into drummers until a couple years afterwards. B.J. Wilson of Procol Harum was one of my first fav's. Ginger and Mitch followed closely. Zappa's drummers, e.g., Billy Mundi, Artie Tripp, Aynsley Dunbar and on and...
Cort Steinberger guitar. Bought used on CL. Has a Dimarzio Super Distortion bridge pup. It’s my back up guitar; I don’t play it that often but it plays OK. Stays in tune for a long time and is easy to tune.
I’m 68. Liked NIN, QoTSA sets. Gary Clark Jr. too. I had heard about St. Vincent but had never listened to any of her music. Tuned in last year (?) to her MASSEDUCTION show and had my mind blown.
Point being; I owe ACL a big thanks for turning me on to St. Vincent. And I much preferred the live...
I have two Armor Gold cables; a 10 footer and a 20 footer. I got them years ago, before they had so many endorsers. I got them because of Joe Naylor’s involvement. I was a Reverend fan.

Amps long gone, but the Melody Maker remains #1 of my two guitars. (#2 is a black Cort Steinberger guitar...)
I know the hits... but am at a loss over “the video.” Must assume it had a similar impact to his career like the “I’m in You” cover had for Frampton...
I’m late to this thread. Read all posts. My 2 cents:
I listened to the entire track “Country Living.” The thing I disliked most about it was the electronic hand claps on 2 & 4. Would I listen to it again? Not too likely. Because...
Music, for me, has always been about the song.
So: do I like...
I can’t find an article with the dB specs... I’ll have to guess that I got the numbers mixed up but I do remember that it was rated more than 100 dB so I’ll guess 101 dB.
Orange Rocker 15 Combo used is as cheap as the Terror head. With a 110db 10” speaker, it’s plenty loud for a 2 EL84 amp. Highly recommended. Clean (Natural) channel is wonderful. Dirty channel can do it all from edge of breakup to Marshall tones to the classic Orange grind not available in other...
When I started on my hunt for a great ‘at home’ amp, I owned the following amps over a 8-9 year period. (I also owned about 10 big iron amps and attenuators. Nothing like pushing a ‘73 Marshall 1959 to 10 on every pot. Nothing.)
Vox Pathfinder 15 (SS)
Vox ’66 Pathfinder
Emery Sound Superbaby...
I had the Tweaker 15 head. While others were/are able to get tones that make them happy with it, it never rang my bell. Yes, it was versatile, but each voice left something to be desired, imho.
Since joining TGP, I’ve owned 30 amps through the years. I have photos of all the amps, the sole...
Yeah, the lyrics are kinda weird, but like you, I really dig the off-time riff. So fun to nail.
I would be surprised if anyone disagreed that SS is a ‘guitarist’s guitarist.” Not that he’d be their guitarist... but some things can’t be denied.
Hmm... I get the question. Since I am only an amateur guitarist, my outlook is different from guys/gals who are at the same level as super pros but haven’t grabbed the golden ring yet, if ever. That said, does it really make a huge difference whether I am commenting on my favorite ‘guitarist’s...
Marshall Guv’nor II. I thought it was great. But I liked this one even more, so I sold the Guv’nor...
Lovepedal Superlead.
I can get pretty much the same tones from my Orange Rocker 15 combo, so I rarely use the Lovepedal anymore.
Amateur, play-at-home, hobbyist who has tried all the major brands and quite a number of boutique brand amps. I’ve landed on an Orange Rocker 15 combo. I love it. It’s my keeper. I do have a Line 6 Amplifi 75 that I’ll plug into every 4 months or so just ‘because.’ It reminds me why I love the...
I'd say go for a modeler that can expose your son to different types of amps. Yeah, modelers (cheap ones, anyway...) can't come close to the 'real thing' but can give him an idea.
Line 6 Amplifi 150 or 75 come to mind. Depends on what's available near you... I am, personally, not a fan of the...
