And upon closer examination, it does have the typical hairline crack in the top, due to the pick guard shrinkage, just under the E-string, by the bridge.
My '76 D-35 had the same crack, and it was repaired by Martin, under warranty...

Okay, I just checked mine again. It's certainly not a smooth, new leather, but it's not scuffed or worn, either. It's got a nap to it, almost a suede, like slightly used leather jacket.
No marks or stains or scratches, but not like a new Levy's leather bag, either...
