Bigsbys are similar in feel to Jazzmaster trems. Both used for light warble, both are pretty smooth, maybe a slight edge to the Jazzmaster.
The poles are really just for balance. You can adjust by ear, but they should all be pretty low to the surface of the pickup, with the pickups...

I ended up swapping out for HS Filtertrons, which ended up being a huge improvement. Very happy with the guitar now :)
For a while it's been a modified Boss SD-1, keeping it on just a smidge of gain. I like that it cuts bass and a little high end.
Sounds like a keeper to me. I would just get a wider/padded strap for it.

IMO the gold pickguard just completes the package - it's such a classic look. I know Setzer doesn't tend to use them but I think they're great.
