So sounds like it is in the pre amp section. Other than swapping pre amp tubes like you've done, not sure. Maybe try and contact Howard Kaplan...
Hey Mark, hope things are good with you!!! Plug into the effects loop return jack and see if the power section is good.
why are you hesitant to re-set the pre amp tubes?? Make sure they are all seated nicely. It's almost certainly a pre amp tube. One way you can...
Dang you make this amp sound great!!!
I'd go for a higher wattage Scumback such as the M75 - 65 watt. Greenbacks kill with Plexi type circuits.
Hate them also. The best I could do is have one in and one out during the show. At least I still got the full band sound in one ear. Good luck.
I'm hoping Jimmy has picked up his set of EL34's since the OP was two years ago.
I thought it was the G12H-30 Anniversary model that was in the EVH 212? The Heritage greenies are in the 412. Might want to check into those....
Have you tried the Mini Jubilee yet?? I know you said Marshall crunch but maybe the Supersonic 22. I have not played one, but seems to get good...
Mineral oil for me
What a great thread!!! Love hearing these stories from guys who have actually been there!!!
My guess would be a blown B+ fuse.
I think the diodes only kick in when you pull the rhythm clip knob. You don't have to pull that at all so you can use the clean and gain channels...
Holy Necro bump batman!!!!!!!
Boy is about as sharp as a sack of wet mice
Almost certain to be the power tubes. EL84's are pretty cheap. You should always have back ups anyway.
Ice Cream Man
I'd prob go with closed back myself. Get a bit more thump in addition to the airy open back combo.
Sorry can't talk you out of it. I just love mine. It seems to fit your criteria as well.
This. If not, then maybe consider the Redback.
Yeah, kind of shocked me too!!!!!
Dang, that does sound great!!!!
