Lately I decided to experiment with playing direct into whatever PA system is available to me (live, rehearsals, but also some studio recording) without using my amp.
I wanted to check, if in a band setting, the clean channel of the Ethos w/ the speaker simulation could give me a decent base tone. Man, I'm not disappointed! I can use any combination of the following pedals (and cascade them): barbershop OD, Fulltone '69 and a Klon (set into a very low gain / clean boost mode), and I get almost the same results (tone and dynamic feel) as if I were playing through a real tube amp.
Let me tell you that I'm very satisfied with this little all Analog Board.

signal chain:
Fairfield Circuitry OD (loop1) -> Fulltone '69 (loop2) (rehoused in a smaller box) -> Diamond Comp (loop3)-> Zvex Seek Wah w/ tap tempo (loop3) -> Klon (loop4) (rehoused in a smaller box) -> Ethos (loop5) -> Diamond Memory Lane 2 (loop6)
I made everything including the 6 loop TB looper and a custom Power supply (4 isolated output psu).

Mike,
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you're still rokin' the 'mini' SD deluxe!
I'm using George L's with pancakes connectors. I just bought a bunch of Hosa patch cables and used their pancake connectors. They are the 'flattest' I've found.

That's my old Ethos, right? Looks great, excellent work. I recently setup my Junior for direct stuff with kind of an R&B emphasis - still really versatile and man setup is quick. I have a Radial JDI that I put between the board and the PA as needed. Guess the delay and trem are digital so I can't claim 100% analog, but it all sounds great. Not as slick as yours, but I'm really liking it;

Yes, that's your old Ethos. Nice little board you have here too. I wanted to put a tuner on mine...but on small boards like these you have to make choices.
Can you get clean tones with the tech21? I couldn't figure out how to get a clean tone out of my sansamp classic...

Cool, glad you're liking it. The Blonde does clean beautifully, a lot like a Twin or Super depending on where you set it, and can get into tweed territory too. Unless I'm in a setting where I want to get some pretty heavy gain tones, I set it clean and use the pedals for the rest. Burgs likes the AMT F1 as well but apparently it's not as versatile. I always have mixed feeling about using a slot for a tuner, but in the end the mute function wins out.

Pretty cool just showing up with a PT Junior and a guitar or two, aint it?
