Here is a song that I wrote, sang, and of course played guitar on. It is in the rough stage but polished enough to be critiqued. If you woul please listen to "And I" and please leave very honest feedback. Pleas critique the guitar playing, sound, tone and touch. My own arrangement of "Amazing Grace" is on the link. Please feel free to honestly critique it also.

I only see two songs..."and i" and "amazing grace"

I like your voice. It's not my normal fare, but it just struck me as a more natural vocal style...and I do like that style of singing.

Some of the chords seem a little rushed, though to only have the drum track playing as little as it did, I think you did pretty good. I'm horrible when it comes to playing to a metronome/drum track.

Maybe it's just me, but when the vocals pickup, typically, the music picks up in some form or fashion. But, the guitar just kept playing the leisurely part it played.

Nice guitar hooks, very cool progression, and the lyrics are great

I can hear some Hammond on the horizon (or a reasonable facsimile thereof)

That bridge is really cool and sneaks up on you in a good way

the solo really tells a story

    cool demo

I like your voice. Hendrix-esque guitar playing too.

...very nice tune...maybe throw in some of those little Hendrixy-Curtis Mayfield fills in between your verses...like the beginning of your solo...really nice btw!

I agree. I tried to really keep it simple and not over play. But when I was done I think I went too far. I really appreciate you listening and taking the time to post a critique and a compliment. Thank you.

    Piggly Wiggly is great!

The music overall is cool, as far as your vocals are concerned, I would practice some pitch recognition drills

Great work - I love listening to home studio artists. A lot of work went into this and you should be really proud of it. I like your voice too. I wish I could sing. But I think you have more there vocally if you dig deeper on the main verse parts. It seems like you are "speak-singing" the main verse. Dig down and pull some more emotion during the verse like you did with the bridge. It's there....you just need to bring it up.

Thanks Glide. I really had not intended to be the one singing. However there was no one else. But I have had a lot of people comment on my vocals including yourself with same type of feedback. So I guess I will start taking my vocals seriously and work on the things that people as yourself have suggested. I really appreciate you listening and posting. Thank you.

The vocal reminds me of Jimmy Hall from Wet Willie.I like the double stops in the rhythm track and the tone is cool. The solo is just right for the tune.Sounded like a little flub at the very end of it though. This is juts my personal preference, but the track is a bit too dry and up front.A little verb goes a long way in a track like this.Your G string is out of tune in some of the chords which is noticable. I really dig the tune overall.

I enjoyed that a lot. The guitar sounds killer and your voice is very, very nice. The song is great too. Nice writing and thoughtful lyrics.

    John,
Thank you for listening and taking the time to critique it and post. I went back and found some Wet Willie and I think you may be right. "Keep on smilling" :) I forgot about that song. I appreciate the compliments and showing me some of my opportunities. Thank You very much.
