Hypothetical question: You have all the pedals you have right now minus any tube screamers. You have $100 to spend on a new or used tube screamer. Clones are allowed. Overdrives not based on the tube screamer are not.

    Which pedal would you get?

Tone Bakery Creme Brûlée. I have the double model, it cost a little more. But the tone ranks right up there with the high dollar tube screamers I've owned. Also its an amazing clean boost clone.

For that price, I'd recommend the Sparkle Drive (or SD Mod) as mentioned above. I'd also suggest looking for some of the lesser known variants, such as the Fuchs Plush Cream, Toadworks Texas Flood, and of course you could do a lot worse than looking into a Boss SD-1. For your price range you can probably also get a Maxon OD808 or an Ibanez TS808, maybe in the $100-$120 range on Reverb or in the emporium.

Good luck! Tubescreamers are the best.

I got a Maxon OD808 on sale for $80. Seems to do the trick.

Maxon OD808 sounds the best of the true tube screamers. There are many many others that are sort-of tube screamers and different versions. Some are good, but different.

A used Way Huge Green Rhino. With the exception of the Palisades, this is probably the most versatile TS-style pedal on the market right now. And it sounds great with bass.

Hmmm... sorta weird hypothetical question... but... I bought a used Analogman modded tubescreamer from one of my favorite pawnshops recently for $75. Had to break it open and squirt contact cleaner into the switch 'cuz it didn't seem to work. They thought they had a sucker, I was hoping I had a screamng deal. Pretty sure I won. Creamy goodness. Hmmm... Helpful post or humblebrag... not sure... sorry.
