Just got a combo amp via a TGP'er. Need to fiddle with it a bit before I really comment, but I think it'll be a keeper.

I need to loose the G12H30 speaker tho', the amp is too bright with it. Will swap out the stock tubes too.

BUT - what does the adjustable pot inside the amp (where all the wires/caps/innards are) do? Is this any kind of tone adjustment? Or is it for biasing?

Also, what exactly does the flattening/dampening switch do?

there is a bias pot inside the amp

flattening dampening is a negitive feed back on off switch

    if I know anything

That sounds right to me, thanks!

So what should I expect from the neg. feedback one way or the other tonewise?

I think a member with an sjt found the scumback with the large dustcap to be a great match for this amp...If I remember correctly. It tamed the brightness.

With the neg feedback off, expect the amp to break up more, be a bit looser in the lows, transition between clean/breakup a bit smoother...think 'tweedier'.

Cool, so which would be with the neg feedback off? Dampening or flattening?

I have the SJT combo with a G12H30 in it....for me, it's not too bright at all. It does have so much low end/bass response that even with the bass set to one, it has enormous bass response. When I add in the 1x12 ext cab that has a Blue in it, the amp sounds even more fantastic.
