16 ohm cabinet into 8 ohm amp?

    Can you plug a 16 ohm cabinet into an 8 ohm amp?

    Is this what Mesa calls a "safe mismatch"???

    Assuming it is "safe", does it change tone???

    Where have you seen Mesa call this a safe mismatch? Can't seem to find that one in the manual.

    Fiz:

    I think its towards the back of an owners manual for a Lone Star Special- there's a bunch of diagrams with different amp impedances and speaker impedances.

    Try the Mesa website and look at the owners manual for the Lone Star Special

    It's fine. You just won't get full power out of it.
    Oh, and it might alter your tone a bit.
