just wondering if it would be okay to replace the JJ ECC83 phase inverter in my cornell 18/20 with a NOS Mullard CV4024 that i have?

and if so what would be the effect on tone?

also, is there a difference in using a 5V4GA over GZ34? I have a NOS Philips 5V4GA and was wondering if that would be 'better'?

    cheers

    Luke.

actually looking at the KCA NOS tubes website i think the 5V4GA might be a mislabelled 5AR4 - if this is the case will this tube be okay and what would be the tonal benefits?

Just plug 'em in and use your ears. It's much easier than trying to described the differences in words.

    A GZ34 and 5AR4 are the same tube. A 5V4 has more voltage drop than a GZ34.
