Ok, I don't have much to go on but there is a 1967 Gibby SG available and they are asking $900. It is supposedly all original but missing a knob and has a small chip near the bottom. No pictures available so I am arranging to go look at it.

Roughly what would one of these be worth is it's in reasonable condition?

I know without pictures this will be a WAG but ballpark?

Thanks in advance.

Ballpark I'd wager a guess with a chip...depending on how bad it is at around 2000. But thats just me, I just know that standards can fetch a pretty penny. Sounds like something fishys going on to me, but good idea to check it out in person.

iI called the owner and he said he got it from an estate sale. It is "natural wood finish" so I am unsure if that means a complete re-fin or if he means walnut - did Gibson even offer the walnut finish n 1967?

The tuners have been replaced.

I can't see it until tomorow but it appears that it won't be the "good buy" I had hoped for.:D

If the seller isn't into guitars to where he knows the names of the different colors, he might just mean that the wood grain is visible instead of painted over with a solid color.

if it's really a '67 i doubt it would be a walnut finish. i don't think gibson was doing walnut til about 1970-1971. it could've been a cherry finish that turned into a reddish brown, and that might be his interpretation of "natural".

regardless, if much hasn't been changed out except for the tuners, getting a '67 SG standard for $900 is a hell of a deal. i wish something like that would come up in my neck of the woods. i guess i'll have to look a little harder! good luck!

I have a Walnut Standard with the Maestro Vibrola that Gibson told me was made in 1966. I'm the original owner and purchased it new in '67.

NICE!
I've had a few 60's SG's and they were all great. If you can get one without going over a grand, that's pretty cool. The pickups in those guitars are very similar to the old PAF's.
