Really? Never been my favorite. Love Riff Raff and Rock N Roll Damnation but I think there are 4 or 5 that I like better. Admittedly, could have easily made the list. I think Van Halen takes 78 by a pretty wide margin.

Never listened to any of those. I think one is the Band and maybe one is Blondie?

1978? Paul Stanley solo album. Sorry, it’s good. Catchy rock tunes with some tasty Bob Kulick guitar work. Forget the makeup, forget it’s Kiss, it’s just a damn good rock record.

First track features early use of an Ebow, kinda cool but useless trivia.

Interesting. I have a lot of Kiss but the only solo album I have is the Ace Frehley solo album. Will have to check it out.

If you’re into Kiss, the first song alone is great. If you’re not into Kiss, but dig harder classic rock, the first song alone is great.

A list of 1978 albums without "The Man-Machine" or "One Nation Under a Groove" or "More Songs About Buildings & Food"????

Great album but I didn't include any live albums. Otherwise it would have been mostly live double albums.

There are some pretty good albums that year, both on the list and not. I picked Hemispheres and Long Live Rock'n'Roll though. I get how Van Halen I is super classic for guitar players, but I'd probably listen to the other two a dozen times for every time I pick up any of the early Van Halen albums.

    Both groundbreaking.
The birth of high energy virtuoso hair metal.
    Birth of New Wave.

Both albums floored me. I was 17. Driver's License. First car 1969 'Cuda 340S. High School.

This Year's Model - Elvis Costello
    Squeeze - Squeeze
Cats Under the Stars - Jerry Garcia
    Stardust - Willie Nelson
Darkness on the Edge of Town - Springsteen
    Dire Straits - Dire Straits
More Songs about Buildings and Food - Talking Heads
Are We Not Men? We are Devo - Devo
One Nation Under a Groove - Funkadelic
    Parallel Lines - Blondie
    Outlandos d'Amour - The Police
    Lionheart - Kate Bush
Shakedown Street - The Grateful Dead

I'd put these above all the poll choices except 52nd Street, Some Girls, and The Cars. But just the fact that there are three decent choices in the poll makes this better than the usual best of year polls...

That was the only one of the solo albums I liked. Is there a e-Bow on Tonight You Belong To Me ?? I'll have to give it another listen.
